I was stationed in Southern CA in 1968-70 after I got back from VN, and loved the place. There was all kinds of new stuff for a country kid from PA to do. There were hippies, rednecks, and everything in between, and everybody seemed to get along just fine. Reagan was governor at the time. We seriously thought about staying, but by the time I was discharged, my wife & I got homesick, and we moved back home to PA. Glad we did.

My parents were from PA and upper New York State and we moved here in 67. Unfortunately I'm still here. I've made a great living here but really can't stand a lot of these idiots. I do live in a small town in the foothills that stays petty quiet. Im only 20 miles above LA.

Both my parents were from outside Scranton PA and moved to California in 59, when my dad got out of the army! San Bernardino first before coming to north county San Diego in 66. Love it here, but the high cost of living is a huge burden for a lot of folks. I try not to travel north or south because of the rat race …unless visiting family or traveling in RV!

I started off with 220 grit on acrylic sticks to sand through the CNC grind lines in the blade found an odd low spot and a few wiggles. Then worked my way up to 600 to work back to 400 but noticed a few random deeper scratches so I worked it back to 320 and just left it. Acrylic backed with a piece of cork and just dragged it in one direction. Moving to a new section of paper with each final drag to ensure a clean finish.

I feel that the 320 is a better finish as the 400 was getting to be too reflective. Then sharpened it to 600 and finished with a 1 micron strop.

I’ll still shed a tear the first scratch I put in it.

Yeah, looks great man! Very nice job. People don't realize how much effort goes into a hand rubbed satin finish until they try doing something similar themselves haha.
 
So I’ve been checking out Arno Bernard Knives recently, and kind of late to his game. More recently got the Imamba and am way in like with the knife. Checks all the boxes for EDC in the rotation.
Now I just received his Orca model. Outstanding knife as well. Just incredible craftsmanship. My bratty knife privileges may have to move to his slip joint Rinkhals(thanks to https://www.bladeforums.com/members...~:text=Report-,LimpCroissant,-Platinum MemberIMG_4155.jpeg
