EDITED: Prices slashed even MORE; Collection reduction due to divorce; Microtech, Protech, McNees, Hoback, Benchmade and more well below retail.

Apologies to the victims here, you have my sympathy. Unfortunately, I highly doubt you will be made whole. :(

Classic grifter behavior.
Yep. I saw this thread the other night, and as soon as I read the title and saw the laundry list being sold, I was extremely suspect. Red flags galore. :poop:

He should be banned after this is resolved.
100% 💯 and I’m sure that is already being considered.

In situations like this I don't try to figure out what is true or not. Those already involved have to play it out for the best results they can get, but i wouldn't jump in and buy anything now, until all have been settled with.
Even then it would be a higher risk deal then I could likely find elsewhere.

I don't think anyone is considering buying anything at this point, we're just waiting for the plank

Seemed like that was what he was suggesting to work out of this, by saying he still had some. I doubt those reading this would buy. Is he locked out of the exchange at this point?- I may have missed that
But I see your point

Thanks for all the wisdom. Phillyjeff's feedback was good, 20 positive no negative. I didn't check the GB&U because of the 20 positive feedback. My mistake was PPFF which was requested and has been the trend on this forum lately. I've been here on the forum 22.5 years, and made a LOT of transactions. This is the first issue I've ever had.

I’ve written this many times in other threads about well, let’s call them “questionable “ sales and about actions taken by again, “questionable” people but it bears repeating.

It‘s a line of dialogue from the wonderful film “Ronin” uttered by the character Sam played by Robert Deniro.

”when there is any doubt, there is no doubt…”

People need to stop enabling other peoples actions when they’re exhibiting psycho and sociopathic behaviour.

Ask yourselves why someone would write more about why they’re selling than about what they’re selling, ask yourselves why certain people seem to be almost continuous victims of extraordinary circumstances. Why do problems only occur AFTER money has been sent, never before.

Just stop…

Sorry you got caught in this mess. I've seen advice offered before that feedback should also be compared to post areas. If people don't participate in the community and only in the sales areas it's easy to imagine they have less to lose by being banned here

What’s psycho and sociopathic about putting a bunch of knives up for sale? People do it here all the time.
Why wouldn’t someone selling items provide a little background if they want to move those items in a hurry?
How would one know if an individual is a continuous victim of extraordinary circumstances if one were not aware of or simply does not recall prior history?
How does one know there’s a problem BEFORE money is sent? The problem IS that promised goods were not received AFTER money was sent.

I remember reading the earlier incident with this same individual, but I never made the connection with this one until someone posted it in this thread. Had I seen this sale posting (I didn’t) and actually been interested in anything he had ‘for sale’ (I’m not), I may have been one of those who got taken. Not many people can remember every name of every person mentioned in every post they read AND the context in which they were all mentioned on one of who knows how many forums they read regularly. This guy is clearly a small-time con man who knows how to tug at the heartstrings of his intended victims - that’s what con men do: gain one’s confidence. So you just STOP.

Stories like that feel like tearjerker shtick to troll in the suckers. I don't care if someone is selling stuff to fix their dog, their truck or pay their divorce lawyer.

Buy the knife; not the story.

I assumed his story was to tell why he was selling so many knives at once. (Not unusual). The story had nothing to do with me buying the knife. It was one I had been looking for, for a while. I was a Sucker for the knife not his story.

Oh, I agree. If it were me and I was on the fence about one or more knives, the story surely would not have pushed me over. If someone else had the same knife/knives I was interested in for the same price, then maybe I’d be swayed toward the one with the story if I felt I was helping him out, as long as there were no other warning signs that something might be amiss. But what other warning signs were there in this case, short of searching up the member name here in GB&U (which I may have to get in the habit of doing more often)? Just the fact that he had a story? I’d like to think I’d see that as a red flag, but I can’t be certain I would, especially if it involved a hard-to-find knife I’d been looking for.

They're always hard to find knives at a good price. If you set the price too low folks will start to wonder. And you're not going to raise a big cash infusion with a Buck 110.

Run a ripoff, fold your tent and run. Wait a while, get a new email address and a new gold account and repeat.

And that’s what guys like this count on. I think they also don't count on the cooperation of members in a community such as this to point them out. Unfortunately they usually don’t get outed until it’s too late - but at least there’s a little added pressure to increase your chances for getting restitution.

The point is that he had a story at all. Not the specifics or anything, just that it is a read flag if someone feels like they need a story to move an expensive item. Legit people who need to move items don't think they need a story to do it. That is the psycho/sociopath part of this. And once you see a story, you should always think to yourself, why is he/she telling me this? Is it true? Click his profile and a take a look at his post history, his profile posts, what is his mo? That little red flag of a story should have turned into a siren. Right on his profile messages is a back and forth with the guy from the other thread. One click is all it took to see that. One freaking click.

People need to do just the slightest amount of research to protect themselves.

Yup, even if you don't care about the story, you should be wary that there even is one. That knife sold itself, no? Then why the story? Red flag.

Hindsight is 20/20 and he did have positive feedback. The red flag for me is no posts other than sales and GBU.
agreed, i generally would not transact with any one who has very little forum presence other than sales and wtb. this has been an especially big issue given how many just come to get GEC knives off the traditional section to flip on ebay or the fb groups.
