Elusive Schrades

Thanks everyone for sharing photos of your fantastic knives. There is some pretty amazing stuff in this thread. I attended the Canal Street Cutlery Open House last year and felt really nostalgic for Schrade while I was there--because of all the former Schrade employees, and because CSC operates in one of the old Schrade factories--I think the hunting knife division.

Charlie, that Balloon Whittler is beyond sublime. It is positively supernal, and I'm so happy to see you preserve the original factory finish for our generation and future generations as well. These knives give us the best possible glimpse into a true golden age of the cutler's arts. Thank you. The precision of the fit and the quality of the bone color and jigging are exquisite.

Here you see a notch in the brass "wedge" which allows the blade to be slightly longer, and fall in tight!

I think this 946 is pretty elusive. I've only seen one on ebay. I'm glad I bought it when I had the chance.

Hope this is appropriate to post in the thread. :)

Nice Primble. I love the peachseed bone and the master blade. We know where the #48 GEC got it's DNA from. ;)

Wow -Ok Primble...what is happening here my friend, have you found a key to the local Museum or something?

That is a lovely knife - I just have to admit that Peach seed is the Ultimate in covers! Just beautiful, and no one does it like Schrade used to!

That one is seasoned just right Primble. That back cover looks like tree bark. Such a dandy old pattern that 294.

Whew! That is a knockout, Primble!!! I love the difference in color between the two bone slabs. It reminds me of Sarah's harlequin TC. :)

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Duncan, thawk, and Dan. I did think of the harlequin, just for a moment, after receiving this knife in the mail.

I liked the seasoning too thawk. ;):)

Schrades 4-blade pens are under-appreciated, Stelth! Nice one!!

Great Serp-Jack, Primble. That's a great pattern, and Schrade "did it better"!

The 294 is one of the Quintessential knives! At 3 7/8 it is a real nice user and that peachseed bone is just exquisite, Primble! I guess a lot of it is you just make them look so good with your photography.

P.S.

Indian Root Pills - what a cool old box
