I think he paid with a bad credit card.

I did make an excursion to Wally-World and spy some Coleman firestarters that looked like they might work in the Emberlit. They weren't lightweight exactly, but cheap at $2.50 for the pack of twelve 1/2 x 1/2 x 6" compressed sawdust/wax bars. "Nontoxic, oderless, lights when wet".

I actually went to buy another cannister of mixed gas (butane/propane) for my Max-Micro gas stove. I have that age-old problem of not knowing how much gas is left in my existing partial cannisters and needed a new full one to weigh for comparison. The new is 12 ounces with 7 1/2 of that in fuel. ("250" short cannister). Now I can weigh my partials and see how much is left in them.

Codger,

I bought some of those Coleman fire starters at Dicks a while back and put one in my PSK. They rock for getting fires going. When I am feeling bone lazy, I get a lighter and one of those and from there the rest is hot, tasty history.

God bless,
Adam

Do you remember a burn time of one stick by itself? I plan on going back and getting a pack of them when my stove gets here. Of course my first burn will be with hickory collected in my yard, but I'll be playing with a few other fuels. I even toy with the idea of a few charcoal briquettes under a fire to extend simmer times. I like to boil meal water, then boil drink water (coffee, tea, cocoa), then cook a course and finish up with more coffee. This rotation is where the Max-Micro shines.

Codger,

Never really bothered timing a single stick burn. It will likely depend on the orientation of the stick. If the flame is at the high end it will burn slowly down, but if its at the low end it doesn't take long for the fire to travel up the stick. I know, that all sounds like rocket science and you would have never thought of it. If I get some time to kill tomorrow I'll light one up and see what she does.

God bless,
Adam

Mikhail stayed up all night last night finishing the latest batch. And will likely be up all night tonight packing for shipment. It is coming together. Now I may get my stove before the weekend and I heard from my canoe parts manufacturer. The ash roof rack for my '63 Falcon should be here by then too! Rain or shine, Jake and me and the canoe and stove are headed for the river this weekend! Woo hoo!

Oh, and FYI, those .gif files last a long, long time. :D

Got a notice this morning that the stove that I ordered for my brother's birthday was shipped to him. Got a notice this evening that mine was shipped today.

Thanks Mikhail, Lou

Man, you guys are great. I'm loving the photoshop. Well... I've been packing stoves since this morning. I'm still printing labels and triple checking my records to make sure I don't miss anyone. I've got half the backlog already in the hands of the USPS and the other half is sitting here getting labels applied to be sent out in the morning. Thanks for being so patient guys.

In spite of our heckling and cajoling, you have been quick enough. And very communicative. I got the USPS notice that my stove had shipped this evening as well. Ain't it great to be self employed in the leisure industry?

:D

Some day i hope. I'm actually a VFX character animator/artist running a studio with college friends of mine, going on 5 weeks without pay because of a difficult client. This little stove is all the more precious to me because of the financial stress it is beginning to alleviate. Not to give y'all a sob story, but for the first time in many many years I'm seeing some real potential for some stability.

the order was placed concerning shipping....
Its coming much sooner than expected.
Hope to have it before the weekend.

I regret to inform you that I'm having to ship you the stove in installments. The first package should contain your packing slip, and the zip lock bag containing the assembly instructions. The next box will contain the front panel... and so on.

So... which of us will get theirs first? My mail has to go through the St. Louis and then Memphis sort hubs. Possibly even Nashville before it is routed to my tiny town (Pop. 1,000 +/-). Tracking hasn't been updated from Salt Lake yet.

I do have a small pile of dried hickory limbs waiting, but may go pick up a bit of oak too. We are due rain over the next several days. I'll get my wood worked up tomorrow and stored in the tool shed. It is supposed to be sunny and near eighty here tomorrow.

I think I have all the makings for a pot of file' gumbo already. That would be a worthy test of the stove, after doing a water boil for Luzianne tea with sassafrass. Or my favorite cowboy coffee. Or I could do venison tenderloin medallions with onions and white pepper gravy. Apple brown betty for desert too. Choices, choices.

Mikhail posted a set of pictures of his upcoming small pot support for the Emberlite on his FB page.

Thanks for the heads up there Codger. I hear tell Mikhail wants to send me some of those for "rigorous testing" (ie. so I can make a really easy cup of tea when I feel like it.) Right Mikhail! :D

God bless,
Adam
