Emberlite stainless steal or ti.

Thanks. I grew up next to a partially deactivated army base. Since the deactivation, there are a handful of neighborhoods tucked away that have been left to rot. I set up on the foundation of what looked to be a 3 family house. I'm bringing by nice camera tomorrow to another neighborhood I found on a map.

I look forward to seeing those!

Spurred on by this thread, I ordered a SS Emberlit from the big river. Had a gift card, so the total came out to 9.99 shipped. It arrived today, and much to my surprise when I opened it up, I had myself the Ti version! The receipt said "Sorry, we were out of the stainless model, so we hope you don't mind that we sent you the Ti instead". Nice! Titanium big-daddy Emberlit for ten bucks! Can't wait to get out and use it.

Awesome. Post some pictures.

Awesome. Post some pictures.

Haven't had a chance to fire it up, so no pics worth posting yet. I'm sitting here looking at it, and wondering if I'd be better off with the Mini. This will be mostly a backup for me, so I guess I don't need the mondo size. Anyone have any thoughts on the pros/cons of full-size vs mini?

The full size is not that large when assembled. I've used mine on many solo river trips. In fact when hungry and preparing a traditional breakfast, I've wished I had two of them. I suppose it would be the same for two people except when rehydrating freeze dried meals, which it does pronto. I have a feeling that once you use it, it will likely be your go-to stove as it has mine. I can't remember the last time I used my little gas stove.

I'm going to get it out and play around with it tomorrow. Pics to come.

By mini I assume you mean the FireAnt?
The FireAnt literally fits in the Emberlit so that should give you an idea how small it is. I recommend you play with the Emberlit before deciding on a mini. Its cabable of doing almost anything you need while still being packable.

Heres the FireAnt in the Emberlit!

There was a run of the Emberlit Mini, which is essentially a scaled-down Emberlit. The Fireant appears to be a different animal altogether, and somewhat smaller even than the Mini. I'll play around with the full size today, I'm sure I'll like it. My biggest disappointment was that it's too big to fit in the front pocket of my Condor 10x4 bottle holder. I wonder if it would fit in the Maxpedition 12x5 pocket? Like I need another excuse to buy a new piece of gear:rolleyes:

There was a photo of the Mini and Fireant side-by-side earlier in this thread, in between all the inferno pictures Warrior posted. I think it was post #184, if you want to go back a page and take a look.
