Emerson Knives

Well, this thread looks a little old but I'll throw in a few cents since my first Emerson arrived. I'll keep it simple...

I love the design of this knife (mini commander)
I've got a Kershaw T tool on my keys, but right off the bat knowing I can maintain this knife w/o it is nice cause w/o a torx bit ur kinda screwed on most other knives...

It came a little tight but will loosen up nicely it seems.

One bad thing...the bevel on the clip side is nonexistent...about a hairs width of silver bit on a black blade.

Almost comical

One of my favorite things about a quality knife is being sharp out of the box but this is the one knife I don't seem to mind as much...not too hard to fix right :)

Maybe more once it's beat up a bit.

All Emerson knives have a chisel edge so that is completely normal. Even though the mini commander has a v-grind it is still chisel edge.

This thread inspired me to swap my zt566 for my friends mini CQC-7 and see what we thought. I love the wave feature and simple fastener heads, but that's about all the praise I had for the knife. The chisel grind felt like it was on the wrong side and the action just felt gritty (possibly poor maintenance/abuse). I disassembled it, gave it a good polish, and oiling but it still wasn't what I would consider smooth. I guess Emerson's aren't for me.

My friend loved the zt566, but said he would never buy a non Emerson.

No way! I just said people have different likes is all. I'm on the Emerson side, read the entire post.

Did you just compare Emerson to fat girls? That's messed up, BRO

No, read the entire post. You're getting the wrong idea.

What I'm saying is, in other words, "different strokes for different folks." Some people like me get an Emerson for what they are, others do not. I happen to like them for what they are, or I would not have bought three of them.

Simple.

I read every post on all 9 pages and I still have absolutely no desire to own one.

But I can see that a few of you have ACTUALLY used them, and to those of you that have, I am happy you have found what works for you.

I will continue my search so one day I can be happy with a sweet folder that works for me.

Pick up a used EKI from the classifieds here. You really don't know until you use an Emerson if it's right for you. If not, sell it at pretty much what you have in it (assuming you don't destroy it yourself). Emersons hold resale very well.

Don't forget, if you sharpen it like a knife, the warranty is null and void.

You have to sharpen it like a chisel. Emerson will not honor warranty on a knife with a V grind edge.

So if i reprofile my Emerson to a V-grind and send it back for warranty work for example for a faulty lock, then the warranty won't be honored?

9 Glorious pages. :)
You'll no doubt end up with a Spyderco, Sebenza or an SnG.
