Did you put the spring back in, or leave it out?

Honestly, in my opinion it didn't NEED the spring, and I actually preferred it with out.

I have to admit that I put the spring back in. I will say that I really loved the action and simplicity as well as the ease of closing on it without the spring. The only reason I put the spring back in? It lost all of it's detent without it. You could jiggle it and the blade would slide out.

P.S. Did you get my thank you PM? Not 100% sure cause BFC was a little glitchy when I was PMing you.

I did... Sorry I was out of town this weekend.

It did lose it's detent, but I was carrying it tip down so it made it not a big deal, at least to me. I'm gonna probably end up getting a CryoII when it comes out later this year. I did like it.

In a completely unrelated and random note:

Half way down is where I was interviewed.

When an off-duty firefighter asked for something with which to pry open a car window, Karlin was ready. He handed over his Becker 3, a sturdy, 7-inch fixed blade used for prying doors and breaking glass. The firefighter broke open a window, cut the victim’s seat belt and pulled him from the car. The crash victim survived.

Dude!!! Nice name drop!! That deserves a free Becker IMO. Well done.

EDIT: I do carry it tip up. The lack of detent just really irked me. The new Cryo coming out should be pretty sick from what I've heard. Thanks again dude, I really appreciate this sweet little knife it has been getting plenty of pocket time, as well as plenty of flicking open and closed time while sitting in traffic :)

Used the 5 to cut some stuff today...I'll probably strip it soon since it'll be around food more in future.

I also started on some new G-10/micarta scales...The black linen micatra in the middle will go on my 5 when they're done.

Oh, so it textured leather covered kydex. Brilliant. Looks very labor intensive. Very nice work. Id like to see the brown in that.
Here is a close up of the Kydex and leather edge

On the local news this morning the had a story about a paparazzi in LA that was stuck by a car and killed while trying to get a photo of Justin Bieber's Ferrari.
Turned out it wasn't Justin in the Ferrari, it was a friend he'd lent the car to.

I call that "Natural Selection"... :D

OK, flashlight-heads: Fenix LD20 or PD32 for a pocket-carry light?

Ok guys, I am looking for a new big knife. I want something tactical (I hate that word), survival and camp all in the same knife. I want a bigish blade 7-9", exposed tang with lanyard hole, lanyard hole in front of the handle would be nice too. So far my top pick is the Tops Condor Alert.

.
Any other suggestions? The Junglas comes close and so does the RTAK which I have a chance to snag a used one.

Rethinking my Altoids kit, currently pyrocentric, thinking about incorporating some survival gear to help round it out a little. What do you guys have in yours?

I would personally go with the Junglas of those options. Check out the Buck Hoodlum, also.

woohoo made it on page 45.. :D

hope everyone's new year is headed in a positive direction so far..

help me understand the leather wrapped kydex.. wouldn't it solve the same purpose just to hot wax leather?? in which it will simulate that kydex 'snap' ??

I forgot about the Hoodlum. I do like that one but I am leaning towards the Junglas too, might try the RTAK first since I get get a good deal on it.

to incorporate both survival and fire into a tin is sparse, though then it again it is a survival tin so the bare minimum is better then nothing..

I used to combine both which is fine, but I feel a separate kit just for fire is better, but what do I know its been close to a year since I've been out in the dirt actually using one.. I'm just trying to bump my post count:)
