Enrique Peña knives

Mr. Pena, I wrote in another thread that the Stockman you made for Blues seemed "clinical", and after some closer inspection, and looking through the rest of this thread, I couldn't have been more wrong. Absolutely beautiful work. The sowbelly posted above is very close to perfection. I LOVE the blade shapes.

Hello to all. Here is a knife that I made after being inspired from a knife that I saw at the Blade Show. Knife is 4 3/16" closed, ATS 34 blade and spring, intergal liners and bolsters, pivot bushing on blade, double pinned shield, super slick but positive action, nice tight and flush spine and my own dyed and jigged bone.

Beautiful knife Enrique. I love the jigged bone on this knife and the stockman that you made for Elliot. You are an amazing artist.

You saw it at Blade and it took you this long to make it? Quit slacking! :) Very nicely done!

Beautiful knife Enrique and it's amazing that you could knock it out so quickly.

Can a double bladed knife like this be made into a lock back?

Hello to all. Here is a picture of a knife that I just finished and that I would like to share. I'm planing to attend the Oregon show in April and this one will be going there. It is one of my first knives to have bushings in the pivot pin and have integral liners and bolsters. I do not think that a knife has to have bushings on it but it does have some advantages to it, like for example the pivot pin will not show since the maker can really beat on the pin and make it not show and the blades will not lock up by the beating on the pin. Not to mention the larger bearing surface. I make each bushing my self on my lathe out of 630 aluminum bronze and I think it is really worth the extra work. This knife measures 3 7/8" closed, blades and springs are CPM 154, the liners and bolsters are integral, shield is double pined and the scales are my own jigged bone. Thanks for all your previous great comments and feel free to comment on this one. Knife not for sale.

The sowbelly could be made to where it is a single blade lockback or make it like Ryu Kawamari makes them, the main blade is a lockback and the second blade is a slipjoint. I'm currentlly making a trapper that will be 3 7/8" closed with a clipblade that will be a lockback and a wharncliff that will be a slipjoint. It will be the first one I make and I will mark it with a "p" for prototype. It will not be identical to Ryu's knife but I did get the concept from him. I will get some pictures here soon.

I can't wait to see that one Enrique.

Here are some pictures of the knife in progress. It would be nice if some of you that own some of Ryu's knife would post them. I really think his work is way way way up there and is hard to beat.

Enrique, just as a point of interest, here is one of Kaj Embretsen's double blade, double lockback jacks (not my knife - snagged the image off a vendor site sometime ago). An interesting approach to add to the bag of tricks:

BTW, you've really been making some remarkably nice bone recently - great color (with nice variation within each scale) and great jigging. And that lockback saddlehorn is superb - one of my alltime favorite patterns.

Enrique, your traditionals are awesome!!I definately would love purchasing one from you in the future!

Hello onece again to all and thank you for your previous great comments. Here is my version on a Premium Trapper. I have a pattern of the Premium Trapper that Ryu Kawamari shared with me but I decided to do my take on it. and here is what it turned out like.

The knife turn out really nice as far as function and fit and finish. This knife is 3 15/16" closed. blade and springs are CPM154, liners and bolsters are integral made out of 410 stainless steel, shield is made out of 410 stainless steel and double pinned, blades have pivot bushings, the spine is really tight, flush in all positions and clean, nice action on both blades, the action on the clip blade is a lockback and the action on the wharncliff is a slipjoint, the handle material is my own jigged bone.
