Ergonomic Favorite Spyders?

First generation of big Manix. Fits my hand like a glove:thumbup::)
Military is second for me.
Manix 2 XL would be great too, but the jimping overall the handle is not very comfortable.

Most of the fixed blades are very good, in fact I'd say many of their folders pale in comparison.

One thing that I'm really surprised no one complains about with the PM2/Manix is the very square edges on the handle slabs. First thing I did to my PM2 and Manix 2 is to round the edges where the slab transitions to the spine, it makes a night and day difference in the ergonomics and comfort using the knife for extended periods. I also think the rounded transition improves overall grip. Now whenever I pick up a new unmodified one I'm always instantly disappointed in the handle. They seem to do a much better job with this for the FRN handled folders, and many of the collaborations.

I love the delica for gym shorts, even with my large hands. The Manix 2 G10 model fits like a glove.

Mine would be:
Delica
Caly3
PM2
To echo many others the delica is a perfect knife for me and the caly3 is quite similar in size and ergos.

Again it blows me away at how many positive responses we have for the Manix models ( even the very first generation). Also the multitude of responses for all the Calypso models. We're mainly talking about Spyderco's "In House" designs here. I'll add all of Spyderco's "IN HOUSE" fixed blades to the mix. I'm still hung up on the TEMPERANCE 1 model  for crying out loud>> why??? Because they evidently got it right the first time around ;)

The Para 2 keeps consistently popping up and the big brother Military model gets it's due as well.

This is a very interesting thread and one I hope that Spyderco is looking at for their own benefit. I wish more people would chime in on the Catcherman models because to me they are perfect for lots of cutting jobs.

Gripping the Native 5 using the choil is just about perfect with the DF2 a close second. I am kind of surprised that the Native 5 did not receive more mentions. That knife for around $80 is probably the best buy on the market. It has the steel, ergos, the lock, and lightweight. What a perfect EDC.

With no choil grip, the PM2.

I'm very happy with my Native 5's. They fit my hand very well just like the Sage series.

Spyderco has so many great choices! I don't have any that don't feel great in my hand. Natives, Sages, Delicas, Manix 2, Dragonfly, PM2, Chaparral, GB1, Stretch etc, etc.

Only considering ergonomics I think these two are my favorites at the moment...

Although not a true Spyderco anymore, this Delica with Boomer 52's Lil Para scales feels like it was made for me.

I think it's so wide open that we can actually look at it in groups of specific models or groups of like designs. For instance I think it's fair to say that most, if not all of Spyderco's "In House" designs are consistent with their superior ergos. There are also collaborations that stand out in the ergonomic area i.e. the JD Smith, the C-60 Ayoob, The Jason Breeden models, The Szabo models and models done by the late Bob Lum are a few that immediately come to mind.

All of the Calypso models can be included. And again every Eric Glesser design I've owned has had superior ergos>> especially the DODO model.

Another group of Spyders that have great ergos are the ones that they made specifically for first responders i.e. the Police, The Rescue models ( especially the stainless RESCUE) are a few that just stand out for me.

I think it's fair to say that it would be tough to find any of Spyderco's fixed blades that don't have excellent ergonomic qualities to them. The Moran and TEMP 1 both set the stage and since them they have all been great for EDC uses.

First place goes to Gayle Bradley 2, second place is for the Manix 2 S110V with G10 scales.

I like Enduras a lot but for heavier loads the handle is not very comfortable - probably 3rd place.

I'm also finding it very interesting that most of the models you guys deem as being very ergonomic happen to be ones with G-10 handles. That actually could be somewhat coincidental because you still could make the argument that a lot of the ones that are getting several votes can also be lumped into certain groups of design styles or even favorite collaborations as well.

My C-60, Sprint G-10 Ayoob model for instance is ergonomic even in it's overall design. The entire C-60 folder feels like you're deploying a handgun in many respects. Now that model has liners which should aid in the smooth action thus helping it to have an ergonomic appeal to it even from a design standpoint.

Ergonomics aren't everything. ;) Think I would still carry, for example, a FRN Stretch the majority of the time over a G-10 Stretch due to ease of carry. The G-10 Stretch is arguably more ergonomic.

Without a doubt for me the Stretch and Caly 3. Absolutely perfect in hand.

I carried a Caly 3 for several yrs at work...great knife.
I compared three models: Endura, Delica and Stretch side by side. No contest. The Stretch fits my hand the best.

Of the ones I have had so far I would choose the delica or the mantra. Endura is too large for my liking. Some of the smaller models work fine as well. But for best fit I would choose the delica and the mantra.

The STRETCH is one that I'm hearing a lot about. And I know it's a lot of people's favorite Spyder period. For all of you who dearly love the STRETCH model I highly recommend checking out one of the JD Smith models too. To me all of Spyderco's JD Smith models ( Sprint Runs and original) fit me like they were tailor made for me.

And at the risk of sounding redundant I still maintain that the original TEMPERANCE 1 model has yet to have any of the fixed blade models fit me better. Which is why I will never retire my TEMP 1>> No NEVER!!

Military and Police 3 are perfect for me. Love the larger Spydies, have a S110V PM2 and a ZDP Endura that I like but they're too small!
