I think spyderco may have patented that.

I prefer the studs to open, and I really like the spike at the bottom in case you need to break glass. I hope you offer it both regular and serrated, I prefer a pocket knife to have serrations.

I love the look of it so far. I'm not going to be at the SHOT show so I'll have to wait until they're up for pre-sale, then I"ll buy one of each........man......I like being able to interact with the men who are behind this great company and get inside info like this........it is swaying my brand loyalty to ESEE from an ESEE/Becker tie

And we appreciate you being here! I think you're right on the SpydieHole and while everyone uses it and knocks it off, we try to make sure we don't step on someone's toes when it comes to Intellectual Property, especially having had that happen to us in the past. ;)

Once we go to production we do plan to offer serrated and plain, left and right hand.

Yep, I always liked my women plain and simple. Always ended up with freakin' crazy and complicated though.

I usually don't comment on things like this BUT I just had to on this one.

Aren't ALL women complicated?:D

Looks like a winner, Jeff. Sticks to principals: nothing fancy, just a good, solid, working knife. I'll start saving-up today!

In the "field" if you will normal screw drivers are easy to come by.

Denny Hansen, editor of SWAT, magazine always says the same thing about folders and we have the same debate. I guess my question is why would anyone take a folder apart in the field anyway? Not trying to stir debate but I've used folders a LOT on survival classes, jungle, etc. and never once have I ever had to take one apart in the field. The only thing that really needs to be done is make sure all screws are tight before going into the field so you don't have to worry about it coming apart out there. I service all of my gear before headding out on a field trip and usually check screws, etc during every sharpening.

I think spyderco may have patented that.

I believe that they have patented the "round" hole. I can understand not wanting to step on anyones toes and looking more at the pictures it probably wouldn't work anyway. I just perfer holes over studs. Jeff I didn't have you pegged as a guy who was into "studs".

wow i love that. for sure going to be my edc when it comes out. i love how the blade is just slight more straight than the esee-3, which i think will come in handy for a folder

This is the first quick photo. Gianni did an excellent job on these. Extremely high quality. No logos or art on them yet. No specs nailed down either except Mike and I will probably not go with the RotoBlock since we really don't care for the feature after using it for several weeks now. Finished prototypes with logos, etc will be at SHOT show. Again, no production timelines, pricing or final specs worked out since we want to use the protos for a while and see what we don't like and what we want changed. They are almost exactly the same size as the fixed blade ESEE-3. Full flat grind. Blade thickness is 5/32". Right off the bat I'm really liking this folder. Will post up some more pics soon.

my birthday is coming up too... in fact, i'm going to be spending it in the desert. if you'd like someone to test it in a different environment, i'd be more than willing to take one to the sandbox for you. just saying. ;)

You should offer it in ranger green g-10 also.

+1 on Green G-10. I would prefer a coated blade, but bare steel works too.

I would consider tapering the handle a bit more as it reaches the end. It might make it fit some people's hands better.

If it hasn't been asked yet,Will this come out before or after the Izula folder?

Isn't that an essential part of what makes them interesting? ;)

Are you still going to offer them with 4 positions for the clip? I guess there aren't that many people that would like to have a left-hand lock and right hand clip or the other way around...

And there any plans to implement a bushing system for the pivot like the one used on the sebenza? That would be very interesting to me if it would be possible with the tolerances you're going to use.
