Maybe your right. Only time will tell.

No, without sounding like a smartass I am indeed right :D since the decision ultimately is in the hands of Mike Perrin and myself. We want to make this folder with the highest of quality and the best of features for a down and dirty work folder so we're taking our time and working through all the details. It will be in production though. Tha's a promise. ;)

Another vote for green scales here. Although I'd love to see it as a canvas micarta option. :D

What you sound like a smartass, never! It is your decison. But there are not a ton of shops out there that have free shop time or that can do the quaility of Lion Steel or the production numbers. That in it's self limits the prospective field of shops. And if you stay with titanium, you guys will have a hard time finding a better shop Lion Steel, unless Hinderer or Reeves has some shop time. But if you want to say that you have not made a decision on who will make the knife, great!

We're still working on scale options but I think it's a given tht black is out :)

Doubt we will do this in Titanium. We have protos in both Ti and Stainless to work and see how they do. I'm never a smartass :) You are correct that there are almost zero shops that will do a folder anymore....and do it right. That's a shame.

They look GREAT!! I hope to get two. One would be my work knife with serrations and the glass breaker (hopefully in some really bright colored scales) the other would be my EDC with a plain edge and whatever muted color scales are available.

Will these be assisted openers? That feature has been a nice little feature for my work folder.

Denny Hansen, editor of SWAT, magazine always says the same thing about folders and we have the same debate. I guess my question is why would anyone take a folder apart in the field anyway? Not trying to stir debate but I've used folders a LOT on survival classes, jungle, etc. and never once have I ever had to take one apart in the field. The only thing that really needs to be done is make sure all screws are tight before going into the field so you don't have to worry about it coming apart out there. I service all of my gear before headding out on a field trip and usually check screws, etc during every sharpening.

Good point...

But I bet alot of guys in Iraq or wherever who do take apart and clean their gear could come by a screwdriver alot easier than a torx bit.

Man, that folder is simple. I can live with it just as it sits. I like that fact there isn't so much going on with it. Easy to maintain blade shape. Mmm

True, and also a good point but Torx is becoming very popular and available now

your right but the screw head will strip a lot faster than a torx head

I think this will be a debate to come for a while but the point made about phillips being more readily available to guys in the field is very true and one to consider also.

I've never needed to take a knife apart in the field either. Neither did any of our grandfathers. I think a lot of folks forget that the concept of using screw construction rather than pins is a VERY new idea in folding knife history. There are plenty of ways to clean a folder without gutting it.

That being said, the inclusion of an optional Phillips head pivot screw is a novel concept. If going the "easy-to-find" route, though, I'd go with an Allen head with a slot cut in it to allow for "flat head-like" tool usage to tighten in an emergency.

Nice looking knife. You mentioned that you did not like the Rotoblock feature after tesing it for a few weeks. Can you elaborate on this...?

RotoBlock: sometimes it will lockup when I draw the knife and open it. Must be how my fingers slide across it. Anyway, it pisses me off when I go to close it and the damn rototblock is preventing that from happening. I've carried one for about a month now and don't like that feature at all. Lion Steel's Frame Lock is good 'nuff without the need for the RotoBlock.

The no titanium thing probably kills this one for me. I love the design but I really hope you decide on ti with the production piece because otherwise I will probably and very reluctantly pass. Awesome design though! The 3 is my favorite ESEE and one of my very favorite knives period
