ESEE-3 Folder!?

I was just checking in on some stuff on Facebook and was looking at the Randall's Adventure Training page. There was a question posed about the Izula folder by a user and when it was coming out. The response was and I quote...

"Still in development stage. Not sure when that will happen. We will have an ESEE-3 folder prototype at SHOT show though."

Whaaaa? ESEE-3 folder? Have I been living under a rock? I stop by Bladeforums daily and I hadn't heard about this.

Is there truly an ESEE-3 folder in the works guys? I'm not the biggest folder fan anymore, but this certainly has my attention. :thumbup:
 
That is pretty much all the information that has been released, but yes, there has been official word of the RC-3 folder's existence.

It's coming in the future. I cant wait for the proto photos.

I saw that comment on face book as well and commented there...

At this rate I'm going to be waiting for the junglas folder :-)
 
Looking forward to this as well. For me, ESEE has set the bar for high value fixed blades with the best warranty in the business. Just a matter of time before the same can be said for folders. Jeff and Mike are the only company that I can say "I don't know what is next, but I can rest assured it will be well thought out and something I'll like."
 
Sorry to break this to ya'll but the 3 folders are just the broken ones sent in for warranty with a hinge made out of duct tape slapped on them. I hear they are using the high quality duct tape though.

Is it tactical duct tape? If so, I need one.
 
No renderings here. This is the actual prototype that Lion Steel is building. Still needs the
removable glass breaker, clip, final grinding, coating, some assembly and laser engraving. The first finished prototype will be at SHOT show. No more details at this time.

This is a render by Tom and will be very very close to the actual finished piece. I think clip placement holes may have moved slightly from this render. BTW: it will be 4-way clip placement, frame lock and removable glass breaker. Have not settled on anything else such as final handle material, balde steel, coatings, etc. This is simply a work in progress, Not sure when we will even release it or go into production. Gianni is sending about 5 prototypes to us. We want to carry them for a while and beat the hell out of them before we ever do production.

Note that this is a SIMPLE freakin' folder. No bells and whistles (except for removable galass breaker). We just want a tough folder with good cutting efficieny, easy to use, secure in the hand, etc. This folder sort of looks like Mike and I if you hold it up against us :)
