ESEE-3 Folder!?

This is a render by Tom and will be very very close to the actual finished piece. I think clip placement holes may have moved slightly from this render. BTW: it will be 4-way clip placement, frame lock and removable glass breaker. Have not settled on anything else such as final handle material, balde steel, coatings, etc. This is simply a work in progress, Not sure when we will even release it or go into production. Gianni is sending about 5 prototypes to us. We want to carry them for a while and beat the hell out of them before we ever do production.

It looks like my Spyderco Military should be worried. :D

Plz oh Plz, do me ONE favor though. Make sure the stopper-pin is thick and sturdy. I hate when you have those "hard use" folders with a thin, flimsy stopper-pin. (on the picture it looks thin)

That render is absolutely stunning. I can't stop staring at it and visualizing the possibilities. I realize this is going to be a folder, but I can't help myself from looking at it and wishing that this profile will be used someday for the fixed blade versions of the 3 and 4. Maybe just an alternative to what's already available. I swear to God, I'd be the first in line to purchase them. I'm willing to wager that I wouldn't be the only one standing in that line either.

Holy crap this is the best folder that i have seen in a long time. It just looks simple and amazing. This looks to be what I want in a folder, simple, clean, and able to take a lot of abuse. I cannot wait for this thing to hit the stores. I just hope it does before i head into the woods for 6 months. Way to go ESEE it looks like you will have another winner with this one.

It looks like my Full Sized Grip, which hasn't really left my pocket in 3 years, should be worried.

If my Military doesn't get replaced, its backup, a Ritter Grip, is definitely on notice.

I guess one more knife never hurt......just don't tell my lady friend. :D

looks nice, although i think a lowrider clip would be better ;)

since there is only a prototype at this stage, a lot can change before it goes into production, but i believe it will have a lowrider clip. Proto looks nice though.

2011 is looking to be a great folder year. Can't wait to get my hands on the DPx HEST folder, the Izula folder and now this!

Looks fantastic! Great work ESEE!
Please make it in carbon steel! The stainless folders are all over the place anyway. Love my Opinel and EKA 32 in good old carbon steel.

Nice and simple, that's all I need. Carbon steel would be great. I'll be in the market for several.

The -3 folder looks like a win for me. But I need teh blade to be under 3.5". If it is over, we won't be able to pocket carry it due to concealed carry/ blade length state laws. Hope it works out for us behind enemy lines. Very nice looking knife so far.

WOW!!! :eek::eek:

This is one simple but beautiful folder!! This is a winner. It would be nice if you can make 2 versions with 2 different blade lengths, one slightly under 3.5" and a second one over 3.75" inch.

:D:D:D

When I look at it again I see that there's jimping and I don't like it. When working with a knife, doing notching and controlled cuts, jimping does nothing but shred my thumb.
Jimping is stupid.

I don't like jimping at all. All it will do is cut into my thumb when doing notching and controlled cuts. Honestly, what is the use of jimping when working with a knife for hours? All it does is shred your thumb.

Jimpings will be very similar if not the same as on ESEE-3 fixed. They are rounded and not sharp. Every time i used -4 or Izula, they never bothered me.

Yep, screw hole position doesn't necessarily tell anyone where the top of the clip will be ;)

You don't say. Ever felt the ESEE jimping? It isn't cutting into anything.
