Again, I personally like Gianni and think he's a good guy and damn sure a great maker. All I know is what was agreed on in booth # 6110 at the SHOT show during a meeting between Gianni, Shon Rowen, Mike Perrin and myself. In the grand scheme of things none of this matters to us. It really doesn't. What does bother us is we came to all of you and said this is going to happen and even said we would be shipping around June. And now we have to come to you and say "it isn't going to happen." No hard feelings at all towards Gianni. He does a lot of work for a lot of good companies and we wish him continued success. But ESEE plays by a different set of rules. We are more about our end user than $$ signs. That's why Rowen and ESEE do so well together. Onward!

Hopefully this thread won’t turn in to a bunch of bashing and pissing and moaning. It’s to let us know what is going and what happened.

Exactly!!

All this talk of no paper contracts, handshakes and honoring your word makes me wish I worked for ESEE or Shon. Too cool!

best of luck on Esee finding another manufacturer for this project. we will be waiting for when it is ready :)

From the email, I think there is a definite language barrier. Sounds like lion was not going to be able to meet deadlines - better to be up front than put somebody off for a long time. On the other hand, you'd think they had an idea what 2011 production was going to look like. Right is right.

No quoting required.....

Let's STILL not turn this into a war of biscuits and gravy vs spaghetti.

How unfortunate that the deal didn't work out. On a brighter note our wallets will stay a little heavier for a little while longer! For hopefully a us made quality product! :)

Kind of my thoughts. Let's not turn this into a war of biscuits and gravy vs spaghetti.

Not to confuse anyone, I actually pulled that quote off my response - which adam quoted before I reposted. I stand by the comment, but felt it was likely my hot Italian blood surfacing and took a calmer tack. Just don't see anti-Italian sentiments that often in 2011.

Mate,
Very disappointing. Probably for the best though, better to learn the measure of the man earlier than later. Find a US manufacturer and put me down for 3 in advance. I may have issues getting them back into Australia but for now I am sure they will serve me on the Afghan / Pakistan border.

Sucks that this temporarily derailed the project, but better now than later.

It seems that Gianni in his email is trying to rationalize his decision by citing what he read on the forums about your preference for USA-made products. But a deal made in person trumps forum banter for me any day.

In the end, though, this is a positive development because it gets ESEE back on track with the goal of making knives in the U.S.

So in that sense, we can thank Gianni.

Things always work out as they should -- even if we can't understand how that could be when the stuff is happening.
