ESEE / DPx H•E•S•T folder pricing / specs

I hope not. The picture with the specs and Mr. DP tool list it in the specs and does not mention the 250 numbered at all.

I guess we will know later. You're not saying that not having the lanyard would be a deal breaker though, are you?

Again, the standard production run going to the delaers will come with the knife, a stainless steel "Mr. DP" adjustment tool and a paper box. The limited edition mdoels will have some value -added features.

No it's not a deal breaker. I like lanyards and it was originally mentioned but was not listed in the new specs.

Well that price point does it. Just inside what I can manage if i really want to. :D

I've been thinking for a while about getting a really nice folder. And the more I see the fixed blade HEST the more I like the design philosophy. A folder version for the city seems just right. It's the perfect storm. I've got one reserved at the knife connection as of yesterday. :)

Heres my opinion on the HEST: remove the "HEST" on the pocket clip, make the jimping normal, and we have ourselves the perfect knife

I'd also like to see the HEST on the clip removed...the flat grey clip alone is perfect.

Looks like a great price point on this knife. Good work keeping it affordable without sacrificing quality and materials.

Since this is the spec/price thread, I'll ask here;

Are the locking surfaces -either/both blade tang and framelock- hardened? (I believe the tang on the Lionsteel SR1 is hardened with a replaceable framelock face).

Can we get extra Mr. Dp tools? How much?

Great design! Hopefully the production engineers won't make you loose any features; an urban HEST must have wire strippers!

From looking at the pics, that aggressive thumb jumping looks like it would get hung up/tear on your pants pocket (and kind of uncomfortable). Was there any specific reason it was changed from the pretty subtle jumping on the fixed blade version?

Seems like I read some where that the jimping can also serve as a wire breaker.

There's already a wire breaker at the base of the blade...

If the weird jimping is for stripping wire...that could be a reason why it's so pronounced. But even then, I've never used notches like that for stripping wire. I've done it lots of times by using a SAK or any other blade to slice around and work the sheathing off the wire.

My opinion still stands, it looks like a pocket shredder!:D

I think more folks need to REALLY look deep and find things they DON'T LIKE....

that way it will cut down on the line come tuesday! :)

So this will be made in Italy? If so, this is very disappointing. Count me out.

RAT Cutlery stood on a principle of building quality American made knives at an affordable price but if they begin to export the work and charge custom prices then I have lost respect for ESEE and they have lost my business.

Lots of respect for Jeff and the ESEE crew but this doesn't sit well with me

As stated before, the ESEE folder is a DPX project, not an ESEE project. ESEE is helping a friend and business partner with another knife (USA made, btw) out with some design assistance and marketing on this new project.

Again, this is not an ESEE knife.

As for "custom pricing", I need to call a Hugh Jass wad of Horse Hockey on this one. I don't know when you last checked out super-beefy titanium frame custom folders like this one, but most of the production folders of this type are in the $350-500 range. Where you got your "custom pricing" price point is a mystery to me, but please tell us where you get these similarly-made knives because I'm quite certain that there are a fairly large number of people in this section of the forum alone that would be interested in buying from them as well, sir.

I'm thinking the weight will be pretty close to Benchmade's MPR, at 5.5oz. Maybe a little less so around 5-5.5oz.
