I have a few different knives i carry. Ive carried this Izula to work for near on 8 weeks straight now bar a couple of wet days. Its done everything I've needed to do pretty well. I did find that sharpening pencils for my son one day, it didn't do it as well as I thought it should maybe because of its thickness. I forget its on my belt, so much so a couple of times I've awkwardly relised i have a knife on display when going into the supermarket or servo and thats a big NO in australia.
If you dont own one I recommend you get one. I use it for skinning, meal preparation, odd jobs and various other things.



Ive got a Sencillo made from magnacut that im trying to like and I think ill carry it a bit now. I really think its ugly. My young fella calls it my dog poo knife because of the handle shape.

An early morning drive to my family farm to have a bit of a shot.



I cant resist a good sunrise photo



Trees are few and far between here on the farm. I was beside this tree whistling for a fox until things brightened up. I got a red fox.



I moved to another area of the farm looking to shoot a rock dove or 2. They land on the tree in the background.



They dont provide much meat but its enough to make dinner.

This arvo I went mushrooming just getting enough for tomorrows breakfast. Dad always said all mushrooms are eatable... but some you can only eat once!

How many hours of darkness are you getting ( average. ). in the winter at your latitude.
NYC is in the N 40's latt so less than 9 hours daylight mid winter......and 15 + or - in summer...

in summer the sun sets about 830pm but you can still use open sights on a rifle till 930ish but by then its getting too dark. so sunset to sunrise is 10 hours. And opposite in winter 14 hours. Im on Lat. S34° I hope this makes sense mate.

I sand the paint back from the edge on the 1095 knives, otherwise they are far too thick behind the edge. I call the orange one "The Shovel" as it is often used for tasks like digging roots out of rocky soil.

As abusive as I can be on a hard use knife, I don't see any need for 1095. It gives up its edge way too easily for me, so S35VN is the right choice unless I am using it to dig a hole.

Maybe after I break one I will change my mind, but I doubt it.

Is it still freehand sharpening if you use the little blue plastic angle guides to get started?

Be hard to lose that one. I have an older one with the skull on it somewhere around here. They are nice knives.
