Esnyx Custom Knives

Good golly, that is a beast!

That thing is going to be sweet!!!

Thanks for the comments everyone. Evan is doing an outstanding job on this knife.

Unfortunately a lot of that sweet popcorn on the mark side stag had to go during the hafting process, but I am really loving the results. Here are the new pics Evan sent me today:

Apparently the satin finish on the blade was a real bear to do by hand. The steel is Hitachi blue #2, at a hardness around 63 IIRC.

You know what's so great about this build,,,,IT LOOKS OLD! Very well done Evan!

Holy Dino turds Batman! That beast is looking great! I'm loving the dye job on the stag!:thumbup:

Phil this is coming out insane! Evan is doing an incredible job on this one. You're very lucky dude.

That looks fantastic! Is the blade hollow or flat ground Philllll? I like the color on that stag!

Elephant toenail?
thing of the past.
I call this one a Blue whale tail fluke.
any tips on getting that superb finish Evan?

I guess if you get carried away pruning a fruit tree and decide to take the whole thing down, you'll have the right tool!!!!

Thank you for all the nice comments, everyone! This is really a huge knife, and a very tricky build. The butt plate was interesting, and hafting the stag to taper to the thinness of the bolsters was a pain. Unfortunately, I had to haft a lot of the popcorn, but I am happy with how the dye job came out.

Well, enough talk. Here she is.

I think you've done a superb job of that Evan, it looks really old school - olde school even! ;) :D

Nice work as usual Evan. The handle on that one looked a little familiar. Was that the old stuff?

I immediately thought of my old (and well used) John Primble India Steel Works knife when I saw this. Thought I would post it here to show the resemblence.

Just an outstanding knife you crafted Evan ! The stag is wonderful (I like it better hafted and stained) the finish is beautiful, and I absolutely love the use of the smaller pins !

Very nice attention to detail.:thumbup:

Lucky Philllll !!!
