Esnyx Custom Knives

You're pulling out all the stops, Evan! Those all look great!

It's been a while since I updated this thread. Let me catch you guys up...

Here is a custom Lanny's Clip that my dad couldn't resist. I love seeing it after some use!

I have a few other to post in the next week or so. Big things happenin' in the Esnyx shop!

That Lanny's Clip is amazing Evan, that coupled alongside that it's your father's is just icing on the cake. Amazing work that I've seen around the forums as of late. It's wonderful to see your work progress onward and onward still

Thank you, Gary, Tim, and Mike! This last month has finally given me time to focus more on knives than setting things up for production. Up to this point, I have spent more time setting up my shop and my business than I have had working on knives. Now that I have everything somewhat streamlined, the fun begins!! I am sure I will still continue to adjust my process and shop setup as I go along, but I have the majority of it out of the way. There is some learning for me to do (as I am now doing my own heat treatment), but that is part of the fun!

Here is a fun project I have been working on, a "work in progress" Cub Scout. Blades and springs are CPM 154, with stainless liners and bolsters, and personally processed, dyed, and checkered bone, with a closed length of 3.5". The deep red gives me the feel of the old SAKs, while the spear blade, bolsters, and pattern is reminiscent of an older knife. I based the main blade off of an old Schrade scout I have.

I feel like scouts are uncommon, albeit wanted, in production and/or custom knives today, and it is a favorite pattern of mine, being one I use almost daily. So, I decided that I wanted to make one that encompassed my favorite elements of the cub scout knife. This is my prototype scout, and will be going straight into my pocket when completed! More pics to come tomorrow, once I finish it out.

*the iphone pics don't do this knife proper justice

Constructive criticism is welcome!!

Wow, the immense detail and patience in that checkering is phenomenal, coupled with the modified sheeptsfoot/swedged spearpoint. The caplifter/screwdriver portion does look a touch long aesthetically compared to the other tools in the knife but I find no fault in that considering it gives more length and slimness/ease of accesibility to the slot in actual use. Great job Evan, can't wait to see it finished up~

Evan,
I am really impressed with your scout, and although I agree that the caplifter looks a bit too long and slim compared to other knives (GEC's, SAK's and so on) it's a purely aesthetic thing, and function is the only thing that really matters. I would rather have a sheepsfoot blade, but that's just a matter of taste. Very nice work. Your progress is impressive.
P.S.: did you get my email/PM?

Having seen this knife (and a few other pieces of Evan's work), I can tell you this is a fella to keep your eye on.

That thing is absolutely stunning in person! I don't think the caplifter is overly long at all. And the checkering on that bone must have been hours of work.

Evan, we want pics of the finished knife buddy! It looks awesome! :D

This is some terrific work done. Real impressive...get me on that list!
The "snakeskin" effect on the scales must have tested your patience...but will def be something that will be a pleasure in hand and use.
looking forward to the coming pictures and progress.

Thanks for the compliments, folks!

I should have a chance to post pics of the completed scout tomorrow.

When you see larger pictures of the checkered bone, they look impressive enough. When you see the knife in hand and you know the checkering was done by hand, that is an astounding feat of patience. Top notch.

Seems Evan's a natural, very passionate about his work.Very, very quick study into muti-bladed and opposite end folders. "The future's wide open".

Thank you for the compliments, Russell and Lyle!

Fantastic! Great job, Evan!  I might have to choose this pattern when my name gets pulled from the hat ;)

What's the width of this one?

I love the three blade/tool idea. Really had everything you need and nothing more.

Ding dong daddy, that is nice!

Love the hand checkering, Evan!
