Esnyx Custom Knives

Nice combo, would make a great bartender's knife.

Thanks Jeff, I had never thought of it like that but your absolutely right, it would be perfect as a bartender's knife:thumbup:

Congrats on your "new" knife, Paul; it looks like a ray of sunshine :D
And thanks for sharing the story. Evan's work is always so impressive!

Thank you GT, I've had it only for a few hours now and really like it. Evan is flawless in his execution:thumbup:

Awesome work, Evan! That's a winning setup for sure, Paul. Evan currently has one of my knives waiting to go on the operating table, I'm very excited to see the results!

Thanks Dan, now you got me excited to see what you have coming. I'm so totally impressed with Evans work, it's obvious he loves what he does:thumbup:

You folks have probably seen these pictures already, but I still don't have the ability to take better ones than Evan did. These are production knives modified by him. Stellar job! The GEC 15's are all him except the blades and springs and the S&M's are cover replacements with the pen blades removed. The Coke Bottle had terrible blade play because the spring was thicker than the blade and that's been remedied.... I can't say enough good things about his work...... Evan, you are a true asset to this community!!

Since we are speying around here is a small taste of the (almost) finished knife that should be heading my way soon :D

Thank you Evan

This wonderful journey started long ago for me. I have loved the shape of the Case / Bose Coffin jack, but wanted something slimmer. I emailed Evan in July and proposed my idea. He was very receptive and the process began. We discussed the shapes, sizes and materials for a few days before coming upon a finished concept. The liners, bolsters and shield are brass. We discussed at length the materials for the covers and though I had a wood in mind, Evan suggested a horn material. The light bulb went off in my head and I remembered I had some Kudu horn that was gifted to me when my boss returned from his Namibia hunting expedition years ago. He assured me this would give a really desirable look and I couldn't be happier with the finished look. The upside down shield makes the "coffin" look more authentic, IMHO. I could go through with paragraph upon paragraph of words, but I do think that a picture is worth a thousand.

Coffin Jack (Esnyx #5):

6-7/8" OAL
3" Blade (CPM154)
2-5/8" Cutting edge
3mm Blade stock (+/-)
3/8" handle width
4" closed length

The F&F are what I had anticipated in my mind and though some minor areas could have been done differently perhaps, it is exactly what I wanted. Thank you Evan for the knife, but also for allowing me to be involved with the design and creation process. This will certainly be my favorite knife for a long time to come, but I doubt it will be my last Esnyx custom!

Very nice looking coffin jack. The inlaid criss is pretty cool and I'll bet a pain to accomplish. Great work!

Thank you all for the compliments!!

The coffin jack was a fun and challenging project. Getting the profile angles to match was tricky, along with the bevel, but the shield was the true challenge. I cut it out of a brass plate using my bandsaw, and then hand filed the rest of it to shape. I then I routed out the spot for it freehand with a dremel, superglued and tapped it into place with a rubber mallet, then pinned it to the liner for full support. Tricky, but fun!

I'll have the eureka jack done here soon, with pics of the finished knife to come tomorrow, before she is shipped off overseas!

Thanks for looking!

WOW!!! Fabulous knives Landon and Mike:thumbup:

Evan, you have found your calling and many people never do, you most definitely have;):):thumbup:

Here is one I finished up today for Joe58. Based on a buck 110, just slimmer.

CPM 154 blade and spring, with all brass hardware, and African Blackwood scales.

This was a very interesting build, as Joe requested a lighter pull on the first half, with a heavy snap from half stop to open. Closed to half is about a 3-4, and half to open is around 6-7. I had to mess with the tang dimensions in-order to get this to work, and that is why the blade sits at a more acute angle at the half stop. This, combined with the deep nick and the EO notch, makes the blade easy to pinch open. Arthritis friendly!

Thanks for looking!!
