Quoted for posterity.

My god, just looking at your post history you are all over the exchange breaking rules. Better hope the mods don't ding you for all the times you've done it or your points will max out in short order.

I'm shocked that this thread, of all threads, generated another one for the /ignore list. The entitlement on display is giving me a headache.

By the way, OP, a $10 discount is not a lowball offer and nothing to be ashamed of. If sellers have the right to set a price and are open to offers you have the ABSOLUTE right to make one. Other than that, follow the rules (which you are obviously willing to do) and you are good to go! Productive thread.

Non issue. Anything else you would like to cover?

^^^This is an example of how these situations are handled. The MODS are the ones who decide whether to advise someone on etiquette matters (they've "advised" me a couple of times ). They seem to do it quite well without help from the "self appointed". The OP could have done better, but I haven't noticed anyone perfect around here. ;) He learned, along with others, about how to better make an offer; that's good for all .

The seller stated, that an offer could be made.

Your offer of ten bucks less is not lowballing.

Its better to make the offer via email or via VM in lieu.

If a member dont like a post, they should report it instead of commenting in a sales thread.

If you continue to break the rules I believe it will become an issue. Of course, the mods will decide that, much like you should have let them do in all the threads you took a dump in.

Doubtful, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Have we clearly wiped the subject matter or is there some other obstruction that needs to be passed?

For your sake, Charlie, I hope you don't get dinged by the mods, since you're pretty clearly operating as a dealer in every way except membership level. I had to go back to July of last year to find a post of yours that wasn't in a sales thread. Before that it was in January where you were signing up for a GAW. It would be pretty bad for you to lose your meal ticket.

I agree with the idea that public offers should be avoided as much as possible and attempts made to contact the seller and inform him of your offer. The best thing is probably to find and fork over enough for a membership to get PM options and then you can notify sellers easily. What is worse etiquette is making a bad habit of "calling out" people over their behavior in a place where such calling out is explicitly against rules and in worse taste than most "offenses" being called out.

Exactly. It appears that making on offer in a thread is, at most, frowned upon.

Whereas cluttering someone else's sales thread with posts that are not about buying the knife is explicitly listed as against the rules.

Doesn't seem like there is much question as to who is on the "wrong side" of this.

Hmm...966 posts in the exchange and 73 outside the exchange. Interesting.

I wouldn't be to doubtful about that.

I think that proper etiquette would be not to post an offer (less than asking price) in the thread. That should be done PM or email. Don't do it in someone's sales thread.

With that aside, in this case offering $10 less is not a "low ball" offer, nor remotely offensive.
What is offensive here is Mr 2times - chiming in on other peoples thread and making accusations about some one else.
Maybe - just maybe, most people do not want or need your kind of superior help.

You should probably read the rules. Offers are explicitly listed as against the rules. Glad I could help you out :)
