Etiquette when posting in for sale ads

"For your sake, Charlie, I hope you don't get dinged by the mods,"

If they ding me, they ding me.

"since you're pretty clearly operating as a dealer in every way except membership level."

Factually incorrect, but don't let that get in your way of making invalid assertions.

"I had to go back to July of last year to find a post of yours that wasn't in a sales thread."

Ahhhhh, how cute, my very own stalker!

"Before that it was in January where you were signing up for a GAW. It would be pretty bad for you to lose your meal ticket."

If you think a hobby = Meal ticket, you're probably selling yourself short ')

"Maybe - just maybe, most people do not want or need your kind of superior help."

I'll be the judge of that!

I feel that posting in a thread really only should be for direct business purposes and in line with what the seller is advising on that issue (ie post to claim etc), posting an offer is definitely not encouraged and I personally report (and frequently have removed) replies of that type. If a sale is closed and nothing else is still up for sale I don't really see any harm if it's a notable topic (like an particularly good sale being made or a very unusual knife for instance).

On a related note, I wish the mods would allow negative feedback for "buyers" who commit to buy then back out, regardless of reason. If you can't pay then you don't play (said in Johnnie Cochran voice)!

Your posts speak for themselves, Charlie, they don't require any assertions from me. Every member of the forum can confirm your activity with a few clicks of the mouse on your profile page -- no stalking required! :)

They do indeed speak for themselves, my old knifes sold at great prices, shipped super fast with perfect feedback ') People that have a higher dollar amount to play with and enjoys trying new things and selling their old toys = Hobbyists. There's a large number of them on Blade Forums. I suggest you go through the information in the forum rules to educate yourself between the differences between a dealer and a regular seller.

I have tried to keep an open mind and not judge in all of this but holly crap charlie you got issues man! I hope you find your peace at some point!

Thanks again for all the comments guys!

I'm zen as can be bro. On the other hand, you seem a tad bit of kilter. But, to each their own.

Doubtful, as you've been told several times. Maybe go read the rules you ask others to follow. I'm fairly certain you dont get to choose which rules to heed or ignore.

Let me know your thoughts or opinions.
I think it's been stated elsewhere in this thread, but just wanted to call out that if you can't PM the person, you can still post on their profile page and they'll get an alert as if you had PM'd them. Click their name on the left of the thread, click "Profile Page" on the pop-up, and write something where it says "Write something...". I personally think that's the best way to reach out if you can't PM.

Ya Rycen said that too. It never crossed my mind so that’s a great point to make and going forward if I do not have gold status it’s definately a good alternative.

Rule #5 as written in the rules for the exchange.
  1. Do not post in a person's thread unless you have an implicit interest in buying the item. Posts like, "Nice knife!", "Why is the price so high/low?", "I wish I had funds" are not allowed. This means absolutely no commentary or feedback in someone's sales thread. Seriously, if you stomp on someone's ad, your account can and will be locked. The only exception to this is in the Knife Makers Market areas (if the maker/craftsman requests and welcomes feedback). Save questions and offers for email rather than cluttering the thread.
While the rule above does state that questions and offers should be "saved for email", the more important part of it explicitly states to not post in a persons sales thread unless you have an implicit interest in buying.

The OP had an implicit interest, the would be moderator didn't.

Another fail for Charlie.

Probably need to change the bolded section so that it says "PM or VM" instead of email.
That being said, I think this thread is done.

Please read the rules for the exchange.

Issuing infractions is time consuming. I'd rather be participating in a discussion than cleaning up some thread because somebody feels the rules just don't apply to him.

Thread closed.
