I wanted to take a moment to comment on something that I have seen on another forum recently, and that is etiquette.
All of us here love our Becker knives, but a lot (myself included) forget that at one time or another, we were among the uninitiated, and had no idea what constituted a good tool. A lot of times people will mention their reactions when someone they know pulls out a new knife they have, and quite frequently they are met with derision because they bought a "crappy" knife. I don't know about you people, but crappy knives were my favorite until I got a little older and discovered that mythical beast known as quality. And even then, it was awhile until I lucked into finding Becker knives, or any others that were worth a darn. As was mentioned elsewhere I feel it should be mentioned here, a well placed "Hey that is really cool! Here is what I have, what do you think of it?" will do far more to add to the obsession that we all possess for knives. Yeah, it is hard to hold your tongue when someone buys an obviously terrible knife, but you will do more for them educating them instead of insulting them. People tend not to respond well to that kind of treatment, even if they did make a poor decision. If you boost their ego a little, and point them in the right direction though, you can achieve some great things.
That being said, I also want to comment on what we have here in this forum. Many of us have been the recipients of a great many freebies, gadgets, doo-dads, and whatnots, all due to the kindness of our fellow forumites, the mods, and Kabar. I would like to thank everyone here for their continued kindness, the camaraderie we have here that so far I have yet to see anywhere else, the amazing amount of generosity that exists from Kabar and Ethan all the way down to the newest members, everyone that helps make this place as great as it is.
