I wanted to take a moment to comment on something that I have seen on another forum recently, and that is etiquette.

All of us here love our Becker knives, but a lot (myself included) forget that at one time or another, we were among the uninitiated, and had no idea what constituted a good tool. A lot of times people will mention their reactions when someone they know pulls out a new knife they have, and quite frequently they are met with derision because they bought a "crappy" knife. I don't know about you people, but crappy knives were my favorite until I got a little older and discovered that mythical beast known as quality. And even then, it was awhile until I lucked into finding Becker knives, or any others that were worth a darn. As was mentioned elsewhere I feel it should be mentioned here, a well placed "Hey that is really cool! Here is what I have, what do you think of it?" will do far more to add to the obsession that we all possess for knives. Yeah, it is hard to hold your tongue when someone buys an obviously terrible knife, but you will do more for them educating them instead of insulting them. People tend not to respond well to that kind of treatment, even if they did make a poor decision. If you boost their ego a little, and point them in the right direction though, you can achieve some great things.

That being said, I also want to comment on what we have here in this forum. Many of us have been the recipients of a great many freebies, gadgets, doo-dads, and whatnots, all due to the kindness of our fellow forumites, the mods, and Kabar. I would like to thank everyone here for their continued kindness, the camaraderie we have here that so far I have yet to see anywhere else, the amazing amount of generosity that exists from Kabar and Ethan all the way down to the newest members, everyone that helps make this place as great as it is.

Good thread D and very necessary. I've recently converted a few over to quality knives using the honey vs. vinegar routine. As far as the generosity here on BF and especially BK&T , I always thank people, but a blanket "thank you" is gonna happen now as well. Thank you!

I recommend the bk5. Your other knives blow. And you're very welcome to bask in my glow. :D

For real tho, shape up ya hooligans.

Oh, I though this thread was about eating with fancy forks and spoons or saying "good morning " instead of "g'day aholes" (I dont actually talk like that)...But this is definetly well said, this is definetly the best forum on the wide world of the intercrap.

Well said. The knives do speak for themselves and should be allowed to. Anyone who gets a chance to use them immediately knows the quality.

Very True! This place is pretty inviting when it comes to forums. I have not seen a more decent place. I have never had a problem, jumping in a conversation here and feel like I may get attacked...you don't find that in other forums..

Now, with that out of the way, who want's to see my HD photo spread of my Gerber Ultimate Knife?? It's got a freakin whistle and everything!

Well said Derek. I am still newer to good knives than I was to crappy knives and even though I am trying to catch up fast, many of us didn't have anyone around to teach us the difference until we luckily stumbled into an awesome place like this.

So to echo Derek's sentiments, thank you to all of you!

So very wisdomous. I would have to totally agree! I know it was only just a year or two ago that I started to understand the truth behind a quality knife, and only recently that I came across Beckers. It's a humble reminder that we have all been there at one point in time.
Thanks!

That's why I am not a Beckerhead, y'all are a bunch of SAVAGES!
Seriously, it is not hard to be nice or as my momma would say, if you don't have anything nice to post ,don't post anything at all. Or something like that.

Thank you for reminding us how good we have it here.

On a side note: My name's oXide, and I used to be a mall ninja....

Thanks to everyone here who has put up with me..lol and thanks to the friends that I have been making here as well. Thrill Billy thank you sir for the grivory and sheath. That knife needed sheathed before it hurt someone.

As much as I agree with this, two guys from work just took their Ferber's on a minimalist camping trip. My kabars have been on zero trips this year...

My buddy, who actually has a nice collection of quality knives and a few Beckers LOVES his Ult Blade....it's his main trail knife...kinda blows my mind a little...maybe there is something to it...but I probably won't find out...

Well said. Although I am not a bonified BeckerHead, I own 4 Beckers and I hang out here every day. I agree that this is the best forum for laughs and friendly dissagreements.
Cheers

Well, I came through CRKT and then Cold Steel to get to Becker. So, I suppose I will have to have a humility badge on perpetually.
