From day one the Beckerheads welcomed me to BF with open arms and free advice that didn't make me feel like an idiot. So I hung around a little while. I've learned an awful lot about knives, had some good laughs, and love to pop in and see whats going on with everybody.

My first post was filled with ignorance. Instead of berrating me and making me feel stupid, the group took the time to answer my ignorrant question and offered good solid advise. Long story short... if the group hadn't treated me as well as they had, I would have never came back...period. But instead I've hung around, enjoyed good company, and I'm proud to call myself a Beckerhead.

Thanks for the post Derek. Hopefully this will serve as a reminder for the knives we carried before we found BK&T. That we weren't stupid, just a little ignorrant and perhaps misguided. And with a liitle bit of humor and good advice, the BK&T forum will continue to inform the uninformed in a welcoming manner. That's just one of the things that makes this place what it is.

I lurked around Blade Forums for quite awhile before signing up. One of the things that encouraged me to sign up was the mutual respect and friendships I saw in the Becker and Traditional forums. I was really impressed with by what I saw of the Beckerheads and hope this forum always stays that way.
 
First off, been wanting to say this for awhile, is it just more or does anyone else see Ted Mosby from "How I Met Your Mother" with a large stash, when they see DerekH's pic? Anyone, anyone...Bueller?
Sorry random and back to the thread point. I totally agree, about not bashing what others carry and try to help them out however you can. Been a knifenut since I was 9 and I was a bit of a jerk as a got older when it came to knives which i sorely regret. I was, shudder, a knife snob, and I carry that burden, knowing I may have turned some off of knife collecting. When I finally wised up and really learned more about blades and life in general I came to understand that a sharp piece of steel is a sharp piece of steel and that even a cheap knife will cut. Sure, is a no name from china going to be as good as a Becker, KaBar Spyderco or a buck or whatever you like, no but will it get the job done, for most people yes. There are grades of quality and steel and even the cheapy has its pros. In the end it comes down to personal preference and what your going to be using the knife for, if its to be a knock about EDC that you don't care about that $5 china knife will work fine for a lot of average joes, and if they lose it or break it no worries. If someone wants a bit more quality they can go for that too and still not break the bank. Be a positive and responsible knifenut people, be a shining beacon of our kind and help others however you in finding the knife that works for them whoever they maybe and whatever they may need it for...unless its Lorena Bobbit.

When we started ramping up this forum, Ethan wanted it to be a "campfire" setting, and for those that sit around E's campfires, this forum is a much nicer place. :D

Its a great forum and getting better, every member we have here.

I have been on several forums over the years. This is the first one where they OGs haven't treated the noobs with utter hate.

You didn't quite answer the question now did you hick. DID you thank him? Cause if I was a betting man, and coincidentally I am, I'd bet that you were pretty much a self-righteous, selfish prick not caring about anyone or anything and acted like a Class-A douche whining "wah wah where is my shock cord." I've got a royal flush, how about you Clayton?

I read this. Then I went outside and smoked a couple to calm down. Quoted so editing cant take place on OPs.
