Eureka, Talon, 92 Photo Gallery

Great looking knives Will, Justin, Tim, Paul and Steve. I especially like the bare head version. Jamie, the Galvanic brand is a grail knife. I think that the 92 model is a great success by GEC, the design is very appealing and comfortable in hand, the size is perfect and the F&F is above GEC standards.

Just had to rub it in huh. :D

If you ever need to dispose of it, I might have a few ideas.

I love the patina on it as well...it looks even better when the blade, bolsters, and springs have a bit of age on them.

Not rubbing it in at all, just demonstrating that a few of these have seen some use ;)

I agree with the whole patina thing, I really have a soft spot for the all steel constructed knives.

Mike,

They really are a nice knife and well worth the search. Good luck!

Agreed on all counts.

I have bought and sold many knives but the one I regret letting go the most was the stag 92.

Talon Snakewood covers are getting milled already...

My che chen eureka:

One of my curgently most wanted production knives is a smooth white bone single blade spear point to go along with eureka, I think that'd make for a very distinguished pair of my favorite pattern.

The Eureka with spear/coping is about as good as a pocketknife gets. I have many knives, but the Eureka is my favorite. Glad to see the Talon come back, but IMO, it doesn't hold a candle to the Eureka, Maybe one day soon they will make that knife again. If you ever see one for sale on the exchange or the bay, do yourself a favor and scoop it up.

I traded my micarta wharncliffe 92 a while back. Glad to finally be able to pick up a replacement 92. Should be shipping in a couple days.

I have a eureka jack from the first runs and a single spear talon from the last run. Is it an illusion, the spear blade profiles are different and I prefer the talon. I realize the low riding, more slender talon would not accommodate the mark side pen, so my favorite would be a talon spear, like the last run, with a pile or is it Pyle side cope blade nail nicks opposite to keep both low and still get the talon's blade profile. Hey, we can dream, can't we......

I'm guessing this is the Jobillo add-on...What do you think?

Edit to be more specific: Is the pair of knives pictured below Jobillo wood or Snake wood?

Images from GEC with a description this time... which answers my question a couple posts up.

Jobillo with a stag hiding at the bottom...

Jobillo looks a nice choice too, what type of wood is it? Never heard of it before.

But that STAG lurking below...if it were Spear I'd have no hesitation  But even so, dayummmm:D:D

No shield.. I liked when GEC went away from using a shield on stag, but in this case I think the oak leaf would of looked nice on the stag.

I wasn't familiar with Jobillo either. I did a google search and came across the thread below... some info about Jobillo with pictures of GEC whittler in Jobillo:

Thanks for posting this! I remember reading this thread quite a while back and being jealous of Pertinux' acquisition. That #79 is beautiful indeed.

As luck would have it, I was able to get on the list for a jobillo 92, so hopefully I'll have it along with a snakewood by the end of next week! 😀

I really like the oak leaf shield on these. It really sets it apart from the standard production runs. Too bad they don't put shields on stag anymore.

Many thanks for the link. Looks handsome stuff alright.

Agreed on the oakleaf shield on the stag, in fact, I'm one of those who regretted GEC's decision to do away with shields on stag, they were masters at inletting it on that material.

This run by DLT is really worthwhile, even though I'm not a fan of the Wharncliffe on this pattern. Their choice of handle slabs has been fantastic, plus that attractive shield.

Thanks, Will

This run looks great, just wish they were spear blades instead. Especially like the fact they are bareheaded.

Thanks for finding the link to show more info on the Jobillo !!!!! After looking at it , I had to reserve a Jobillo as well as an earlier Stag . You are probably once again an enabler .
