Ever heard of GSM Outdoors? They just bought Cold steel.

See if that works, google hasn't changed their snapshot yet, and I still get the 1 year warranty blurb in the little box -

"ColdSteel products are covered by a One Year Limited Warranty. At GSM Outdoors, our customers are our number one priority and we want them to know we stand proudly behind every item bearing our name. Tampering with or altering the unit will void the warranty. Any unauthorized service will void the warranty."

It changed back to lifetime last night, with the just the added stipulation to speak to customer service for a return authorization.

Virtually everything you have said here is not supported by the facts as we know them.

I did my best to look up the warranties of the GSM brands. Might have missed a couple. Some are 30 and 90 day. The majority are one year and a couple were five year.

Several require registration. I believe most if not all were original owner and purchase receipt required.

Just pulled this off the website. I don’t see a warranty term anywhere. I suppose it could be considered a lifetime warranty if you interpret the phrase “If you are ever...”.

You have to go a layer deeper to see the terms. At the top under Company, hover over Warranty and another drop down comes up, click the next Warranty you see there.

Well, here's an announcement by Gridiron Capital just weeks ago announcing that it has purchased GSM, which owns Cold Steel.

Gee, an announcement that Cold Steel has been acquired by GSM which was then acquired by Gridiron.....tell us something we don't already know......got any other late breaking news for us? Such as information about how the take over will be handled moving forward? Do let us know......

Then it wasn't a fact really, just placeholder information until a decision was made by the new owners. Most likely everything involving Cold Steel was placed at a corporate default status until things get settled. We'll find out soon enough.....

Once again we don't know the facts here. Nobody does. We don't know if the warehouse facility will be maintained there or not. If there is an operational warehouse full of inventory do you really think it will be closed overnight?

Right, you should all wait for the official announcement from the new owners stating that they are going to start cutting as many corners as they can so they can squeeze every dime out of the Cold Steel brand before people catch on to what they are doing.

No, don't use your judgement, experience and pattern recognition abilities that you have developed over decades of life. Arathol here thinks that is a bad idea.

Come on now. A place holder until it was sorted out? Really? That page you copy and pasted was updated to show one year. Someone went in and did that. It wasn't some software glitch. This is a dedicated investment firm. It was all settled long ago. They don't settle things after the sale.

That warranty was changed on Cold Steel's site. You cannot fault people for reacting to that.

Again, I am in no way longing for the demise of Cold Steel. I hope in a few years it's all a non-issue. But I am absolutely entitled to my opinion that that won't be the case. I don't owe Cold Steel a damn thing. They and GSM owe me as a consumer. It is their job to win my confidence.

Like I said before, check back in two to five years and see how things are going.

FACT cold steel forum moderator is MIA and has not commented
FACT someone is tending to GSM facebook and deleting some posts asking about cold steel
FACT someone is tending to cold steel facebook and website posting and making changes and deleting some negative comments
FACT neither GSM nor cold steel are responding to emails on the subject

I am not sure if everyone is aware, cold steel announced just a short time back that thompson would be selling the contents of several shipping containers full of items
very strange timing?? Kind of like the timing of cancelling A2 steel and announcing 4034..

There WAS post on facebook about not getting orders directly from cold steel. Has anyone directly ordered from cold steel recently and had issues or success?
I see nothing there I can not find a better price on from a supplier.
Does anyone have a supplier they know that is willing to say anything on the subject?
