Box#2
CRK small #31 Bog Oak with ladder Damascus.
I tried to pick one with lighter bog oak and fell in love with this one. I really like the Carmel color swirls and it had really nice character.

NOS Benchmade 300 "Ball" Axis Flipper. I have to admit that the action on the ZT 0562 Ti that I posted above yesterday is a bit more snappy. However, it's nice to be able to pull back the axis-lock and flick it open and closed, unlike a frame-lock knife. And it's nice to have more than one way to deploy the blade. It's also not very heavy for its size.

You hit the nail on the head. The M4 is all of the above. And the size is perfect for discreet carry (for a fixed blade). Even the sheath is impressive. I highly recommend picking one up.

One thing that comes up with LionSteel often is that they tend to be quite thick behind the edge. How would you rate your M4? I have an M5 and an M7 and they're both too thick to my liking. On the M7 that's not all bad though, since it's more of a heavy duty knife. But the M5 will definitely be thinned out a bit when I find the time.

It is a little thick behind the edge but not so much that it hinders cutting performance terribly (for me anyway). That’s something that could always be taken care of relatively easily. I was looking at the LionSteel M2M when I was checking out the M4. I vaguely remember reading that that one is a bit thinner behind the edge (maybe since it’s a full flat ground blade). I also like that you can carry the MKM in scout position with the stock sheath.

not really “new” but I did re-acquire my 940 that benchmade had a couple of months replacing the handles. Glad to finally get it back.

Yeah from online reviews I felt like Lionsteel tends toward thicker blades. I suppose it all depends on the use but I'm sure a little sturdiness in a fixie is generally a good thing as long as the geometry is good. Smaller M series blade thicknesses are:

M4: .15" (3.75" long)
M1: .13 (2.9" long)
M2M: .125" (3.5" long)

So yeah the M2M definitely a touch thinner, but for reference a Para 3 is also listed as .15", same as the M4. The Lionsteel B series (bushcraft) are each a touch thicker than the loose M series counterparts, for what that's worth.

Either way, definitely fighting the urge to smash the buy button on this guy now!

Is that the BHQ exclusive M4 blade?

yeah you betcha it is, really like that blue micarta with the satin blade.
Man... You guys are making me want that uncoated M1 in M4. That's pretty sweet! I like that Lionsteel is messing around with new steels lately. They also have the T6 in K490. That thing is awesome too! It's a tank though at a quarter inch thick.
