Had a chance to pounce on a new-old stock long discontinued slab of Cold Steel XHP goodness, so I did so....Swiftly.

Had the opportunity to snag my first 47 Viper offered to me by a porch regular for what he paid for it. Obviously couldn’t say no and I’m super grateful for his generosity. I instantly love this knife and want to get a few more Vipers now.

The regular Shiro Ursus goes for around $660, KC and R1 have them w/ the small black, orange and OD G-10 insert, and they are probably easier to get FWIW

I just emailed them to ask who did the milling on the scales to make the repetitive R1 text look like a geometric design. It's a sweet knife for sure.

Recon1 replied that a friend does the R1P engraving and wants to remain anonymous. I certainly think it looks way cooler than a plain one, or one with the standard inlay. Others will think it's a cheesy advertisement to carry around a logo for Recon1 like they would on a T-shirt

I wouldn’t say cheesey, just a little busy for my taste…I do like the fact that it’s full TI however, I wouldn’t mind if mine was like that, but a little less flashy.

I just really fell in love with the way the logos are arranged to look like ninja throwing stars or snowflakes, carrying a second meaning to the engraving. I thought an all titanium was too plain, and the ones with inlays look too much like my Neon NL with micarta inlays.

Yeah, the Blue frag pattern would be my next choice. But I wanted the R1P 1/2" shorter blade, and the MRBS, although the Frag's Cromax PM would have been nice.

I’m 99% that they are the same sized blade. Monkey Edge is just weird with how they measure sometimes. That’s cool though about the mrbs! I just figured all the Quantum Ursus style blades were srbs.
