Technically my newest even thought I’ve had it for a little bit. Fallkniven MB10

Pics to come, (hopefully sooner rather than later), but as I was scouring the interwebz the past few days going through all the normal knife-porn "window" shopping sites I frequent, (and some I don't), appreciating what's what and trying to think what was going to be my next purchase since I start my new job next week, and then I saw her.... I debated it with myself for a while, (which is nearly always a losing endeavor), and I dropped another $350 that I was not necessarily intending on spending (not quite yet at least).

After being laid off due to covid in 2020, and realizing I still had 2.5 years to use my GI Bill funds or lose 'em, I returned to school, and while I finished my last class over winter, tomorrow is the commencement ceremony. I was gonna skip it, but seeing how all my brothers and myself dropped out of HS for different reasons, even though we all did ok for ourselves getting out $#!& together and making honest livings, as the youngest at 43, I am the first, and likely last of us, to graduate college, so I decided to give my momma the pleasure of seeing one of her sons walk that walk in a cap and gown... Lord knows she's no spring chicken.

Anyways, Long story short; the college colors are maroon and gold, their mascot is a hawk, my last class was a winter class in 12/2022 and my sons birthday is 1/21/13, So in browsing I stumbled across an "in stock" Microtech 121-13MR dated 12/2022, and after buying two cheaper OTF options recently just to scratch the itch, and really wanting a MT now that auto's are legal in PA, it screamed to me the perfect graduation gift to get myself...
*(and since I "broke the seal" I then proceeded over to the exchange and also bought a smaller/slimmer deep carry Heretic Manticore S tanto to carry as an edc at my new job, because why not).

You know you will have to give the 121-13 (1/21/13) to you son in 8 years, right?

You'll change your mind. The things I gave my son when he turned of age I never thought I'd give up.
We'll see... he already has a small Kabar Dozier, a rough rider slip joint, and Mora, and I have a small box set aside for him with a few nicer upgrades just for him. I'm hoping as he comes of age he'll have enough of his own to suit every task that he'll never ask for mine 🤣

Good luck with that 😂

Actually, the funny thing is that after my son got what he when he was younger (like yours will), he doesn't ask for mine these days. But I think it's because he has enough of his own to suit every task, just like you plan on doing. So, maybe you are safe. But, I'd bet by then you'll want to give it to him as an 18th birthday present :p

More recently, I'll offer my son (25 yrs) a knife he likes in return for favors I want, and if he doesn't want it bad enough he'll pass (every time). I may offer him a free knife that he doesn't like, and he'll pass. Other young men would jump at the chance for a nice new knife in return for some manual labor, or a free knife even if he doesn't like it, just so they can add to their stash of trinkets.

Mine is happy enough with what he has that it's hard to entice him these days. His collection is small - a Smith and Wesson bayonet for his AR, a tiny Swiss Army with Boy Scout logo (he's an Eagle), Benchmade mini-griptillian black S90V tango and sand scales (special order discontinued safe queen), and another mini Grip with 154CM partially serrated drop point and OD green scales (user), a Mini Griptilian with partial serrated drop point and pink scales (at work nobody steals it), a Benchmade Auto Stryker (user), and a Benchmade Shootout (user).

Good luck with that 😂

...
Before any of my other knives which have any specific sentimental value to me, I'd most likely offer him my silver paw print large Sebenza and green ti/natural micarta Geoge Muller that I got in honor of the two great old dogs I had pass away in '19 and '20 respectively, the "great grey ghost" and the "african lion hound", simply because they were his dogs too. He grew up with 'em ever since day 1 on this earth, and they were his best buddies for his first 6-7 yrs...
(The black one was the last puppy left from a mixed litter they had together 9 days before he was born... Needless to say it was a mad house with 9 puppies and a newborn).

Broke his heart as much as mine to lose 'em, and He still brings 'em up from time to time and how much he misses them. And I just reply, "I know buddy, I do too..." 😥

Okay, so over the weekend and Monday I received several new knives, and wanted to share them with you.

First is a Rockstead Shin DLC in YXR7 steel at 65.1 Rockwell hardness and mirror polished convex edge like my Higo II. The DLC is very transparent and hard to see in pictures vs IRL but it’s beautiful.

The action is very smooth and with break in might start to snap open with a thumb flick. It’s as smooth as my Higo II, but feels a bit lighter when opening it as I’m the 3rd owner.

Next up is my brand new Herman Knives Micro Sting with 2.8” M398 blade at Hrc 62, with Ti scales and inlay. I considered a full size Sting, but this one was decorated more nicely. I’ll get full size on my next one.

The scales change color in the light and vary from bronze to blue to purple!

I also picked up an Alliance Design Ray Laconico EZE Titanium frame lock with carbon fiber scale, and I believe M390 blade (made by Reate like the Oeser F-22). Got this from Frankie and Bird at BirdshotTV, “Heyyyyy!”

I’m very impressed with the action, fit and finish, and edge. And it feels good in the hand.

And lastly, for now, I got a Vosteed Raccoon, after being impressed with the Vosteed Bellamy previously. This is a fantastic budget knife, with good action and edge. There are too many nice budget knives out there to choose from these days.

I have a couple others to post but it’s way past my bedtime.

Okay, I’m just going to throw these last 5 out there, all from David Mary Custom.

One is an original design that is current production, the Otter Scout. Three are remanufactured from 3rd party knives. And one is a Spyderco Manix 2 “Regrind” in S110V.

I love the reflection off the blade in the edge view. LOOK AT HOW THIN THIS BLADE IS.

My second Monkey Edge Frag Pattern knife and my third Shirogorov. Managed to snag this at retail from Monkey Edge last week. Pleasantly surprised that this wasn’t larger. I’ve seen retailers provide conflicting measurements on the Quantums for some reason. The Single Row Bearing System is noticeably rougher than their MRBS, but still works great. Smooth enough for government work lol.

Shirogorov - Quantum MEFP SRBS - Cromax PM - Titanium
