I have both a big and small Harsey, and have had the same experience. They are both gorgeous and feel great in hand, but neither of them perform that well at cutting. They seem to be pretty thick BTE, which I think may be the bigger issue even after sharpening them both.

Beautiful viking ship handle, all of mine have arrived sharp, maybe not hair popping, but serviceable. I'm sure if you reach out to Spartan, they will bring it in at their cost and sharpen it thoroughly, they are pretty awesome like that.
 
Getting back to my cheapskateness. Caught this Kizer Vanguard series Spot on sale at BHQ. Loved the blade shape from the start, as well as the red-black G10, but the quality of everything is right up there, too. Flipping action is easy, smooth and precise; lockup is solid, release is easy and no-stick. No blade play in any direction, and it’s stupid sharp right out of the box. One of those I’m going to have to look at a lot. It’s my first Kizer, and very likely won’t be my last.

Good advice. I did reach out via email but have yet to hear anything as of now. I explained that I’m sure one gets “past the goalie” every now and then but also explained my disappointment. We’ll see what they say as I’m sure they will eventually reply. 🙂
 
I was in Colorado for the week of Thanksgiving, and I drove down to Golden to visit the spyderco factory. I really liked the Sliverax, and bought one on sale at KC for way less than at the factory. Now, I've been pretty much been buying custom knives in the last year, and the two production are coated. While the action and ergonomics on the Sliverax are great, the handle material left me wanting compared to other CF.

Not sure if I'll keep it, I also dislike the lanyard hole interfering with the location of the deep carry clip. I may give it to a friend.
