EXCALIBUR vs. JEDI LIGHT SABER

Thanks Cobalt. And thanks to all those who who shared their insightful comments. This thread has yielded much valuable information about imaginary swords. I used to debate this very topic with my friends when I was 8.

See y'all at the star trek convention!

We live under continual threat of two equally fearful, but seemingly opposed, destinies: unremitting banality and inconceivable terror. It is fantasy, served out in large rations by the popular arts, which allows most people to cope with these twin specters. - Susan Sontag

Wulf, you never read, listen to, watch, write, or speak fiction? What a boring life. If it irritates you so much, go on to the next thread and post there instead, secure in your superiority to people who enjoy using imagination.

Wulf, you are really making us feel inadequate. I hope reading 3 pages of this nonsense didn't cut too much time away from all those chicks beating down your door. I apologize to you and your now unsatisfied chicks.

Wulf never satisfies chicks. He just EATS them. He has this kinky habit of eating someones grandma, dressing up in their clothes, and impersonating the recently devoured trying to get close enough to their grandchildren so that he can eat them too. He is not really interested in the happiness or well being of others. I think his goal is self gratification

The Light Saber Or the Excalibur would be perfectly servicable Wulf killers. Look, just use the Force or Wulf is gonna take your Guinevere for a ride to Grandmothers house for Thanksgiving.

Paracelsus, waiting to see if Wulf's teeth are really as big as rumored

It may sound silly, but my curiosity compelled me to ask.
Can a lightsaber THROWN? Is the switch cut off when leaving my (my?) hand?

I would have to agree with edrozen that the swartz ring would whoop up on both swords

Wrongfriend,

Yes, the lightsaber can be thrown. As someone mentioned earlier, most lightsabers have a built in deadman's switch, to automatically shut the blade off if dropped. However, some do not, and these can be thrown. Most of the ones with a deadman's switch have some kind of locking mechanism, as used by Princess Leia in one of the Timothy Zahn books. Of course, one might not want to throw the lightsaber, as I have heard that the tang is rather soft and bends easily.
Would someone please mention where the Luke's saber bounces off of Vaders armor? I have seen these movies multiple times, and can't think of anywhere where this happens.

Please excuse my absence, but I was at the greater Cleveland Star Wars Fan Club Annual Meeting, where I actually got to meet Mark Hammel! I even got him to sign my action figure! Anyway, I'm back now, and I'd like to apologize to anyone who may have taken offense to my previous post - none was intended.

But, to those of you whose fragile egos and insecurities prevent you from enjoying a little light-hearted humor, you can just kiss my furry little trouser-wookie.

Trouser Wookie? Don't YOU WISH!

ROTFLMFAO!!
That was the best thing I've read yet in this Lame-Ass Dink-Fest thread.
You are progressing quite well, young Jedi!
I see the Dark Side of the Force is strong within you!

Off to start a thread about Light Sabre and Trouser Wookie technique,

Wulf, please put that trouser wookie away. If you think this thread is bad, there's supposed to be a Lord of the Rings trilogy coming out next year. It's going to get downright creepy in here then!

Enjoy it while it's still just ONE topic.

If I recall Marshall and Sanow's early research Excalibur had a whopping 95% One Shot Stop capability while lightsabres only rated 75%

However since only Arthur and his dad, Uther Pendragon, ever used Excalibur, the stats may be misleading--Also M&S failed to mention the small percentage of Jedi in the galaxy--The majority of the armed services of the empire and elsewhere used blasters as the primary sidearm of choice; as anyone who remembers Han Solo's advice against "Hoaky religions and ancient weapons" should know.

This has sparked further research and now M&S give blasters 94% OSS, since they DO have enough of a database from which to draw scientific conclusions. . .

Nevertheless it would be remiss not to mention that Dr. Flacker and others have pointed out that 94% OSS does NOT account for imperial bodyarmor, (let alone Muad Dib's electronic armor, which could stop even phasers set to kill) while excalibur, or lightsabers if used to decapitate or otherwise shut down the Central Nervous System should rate a higher OSS than M&S gives them credit for.

In a counter argument

(WILL THIS CONTROVERSY NEVER END?)

Mas Ayoob--or perhaps it was Chuck Taylor?--- point out that although Dr. F is correct in asserting that magic swords and lightsabers do go through body armor easily, these are warfare scenarios and irrelevent for both LEO's and the majority of the urban civilian population attempting to exercise self-defense.

Given the 96% OSS of the .357 magnum, it's still their prime reccomendation throughout the universe...

Intereted readers should check out "How Magellan REALLY died" in the Filipino Forums; which proves the FMA origin of Excalibur and "Spetsnatz and Soulsucker" for the prototypes of both red lightsabers and black-ops Moorcock type swords, available through TRS videos.

IIRC, Muad Dib's electronic armor might have a HUGE atomic explosion if it meets a beam from lasgun... Not with phasers?
Sorry for off topic rumbling.

Lord of the Rings flick! Yesssss!

And we who read the whole trilogy three times will nit-pick it mercilessly!

So shall we bring Anduril, the Sword that was Broken, into this admittedly dubious thread for a three-way odious comparison, or shall we descend upon the new BFC Sword Discussion Forum with that stuff?

Well, I thought I had posted the following, but I didn't so here goes:

THERE IS a NEW KID IN TOWN:

It's the "LAZER" DISK CUTTER from Predator II This unit can chop anything in half and can be thrown with more accurace. It just might be better than the other two. What do you all think.

C'mon Donna Barnas, give us your proffesional insight. Wulf tell me what you think.

Cobalt, I do not like LDC knives

James. I don't think you should move this thread to the Sword Discussion Forum. I have the impression that Robert and Tom do not quite share your tolerance for silly things. One of them would prompty slice this thread into many pieces with a real sword and toss the offal into the garbage heap. It is, however, welcome in the Community forum if you want to get rid of it or if it's starting to smell bad.

Paracelsus, having some fun
