Extremely limited in my choice of blades

They cannot be classed in the same as lock knives....they do not lock.

Hell...UK is in the name.

Blimey.

It's more strict in Scotland. You heard of Glasgow?

127 murders - population around 577,869. 2003 statistics I think.

It's no wonder it's more strict.

then perhaps some of the legal verbage is in order.

based on your first post, the spydercos meet those standards.

Listen here NEWB, no one is scared of your pathetic little net-threats.
If you want to play keyboard commando, bully for you.
But don't think anyone here is going to be cowed by your little hissy fit, and, on the vanishingly small chance that you are NOT a returning, already banned troll, you are not endearing yourself to the knife community.:thumbdn:

You're doing yourself no favours. Yeah I'm a noob here, but so what. Post counts are overrated and you're a prime example of that. I know how to handle myself on a forum and in real life and I'm no E thug.

No I'm not a troll and I'm sure you know that. I'm a guy from a horrible neighbourhood, looking for some advice for some extra self defense, within the law.

Get out my thread if you don't have anything constructive to say.

\. I'm a guy from a horrible neighbourhood, looking for some advice for some extra self defense, within the law.

If that were true, you'd either already know how to defend yourself within legal limits, or recognize good advice when you see it.
You do neither, and are therefore a trolling liar.

Get off of our forum if you are going to be a jerk.

The will get classed in with a bunch of lock knives? How can they be confused with locking knives they have no locks? The UK Penknife (UKPK) was designed to be legal in the UK. It does not lock and has a sub 3' blade. You can even go with the DK Penknife (DKPK) designed not to be opened with one hand. You can even get the DKPK in black G10.

STICF

Yeah it will. It sucks I know. I just read on another forum about a guy from Nottingham, England, who got caught with one and he was gonna get done, but got it taken off him instead.

The spyderco uk hovers just on the grey area of the law, but when it comes to the discretion of the cop, he will always take it off you, at least.

Especially in Glasgow as it has suck a high knife crime and murder rate.

As I said, I have my eye on a few fixed blade models anyway. I'll post pics of them soon.

Relax, Jaymz. People are trying to help you and you're snapping at them.

The Spyderco UK pen knife was designed specifically to fall within the UK's restrictive legal guidelines. They are slipjoints, and as such, do not lock. DO NOT LOCK. They are legal for you to have and carry, even in Glasgow.

Other good choices would be traditional slipjoints, such as those made by Case, Queen, GEC etc. There are a host of knives by these makers and others that you can legally carry. Though it sounds like you are looking for a weapon. Slipjoints make for poor weapons. A nice, stout umbrella or walking stick might come in handy if you're concerned about yobs.

Good luck to you, sir.

Jaymz, you leave me wondering exactly what you really are looking for. Going by the criteria you posted, the UKPK works. Even in Glasgow. Of course any officer could aay, no, he's confiscating it anyway. But that's exceeding his authority, not something we can help you with.

Once upon a time, the motto of Scotland was "Nemo me impune lacessit." What happened?

Way to go to stick up for your Canadian comrade.

Please, I'll say again - if you don't have anything constructive to say - leave.

I'm not in the mood for trolling or anything else.

Jaymz, stabman, please ignore each other. This is a discussion forum. I will not want to see any further bickering. Thank you.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I'm not really willing to lay it all down to the cops discretion, so the spyderco is a no no for me.

Sorry for being snappy.

I'm thinking this knife

Can you legally carry fixed blades? I was under the impression that they were restricted in the UK. If they're ok, that opens up a lot of possibilities.

Maybe I have interpreted the laws wrong then?

Maybe by the law stating n lockable blades, it is referring to something other than being allowed a fixed blade?

who knows?

it would be helpful if you posted the actual law/laws.

The Pendleton is probably the least "tactical" looking of all of these. Might be in your favor with the police. It's as good a knife as any of the others. The grip is excellent in any weather and the blade will come sharp.
