Morning Daniel, and everybody.

The wife finally went back to work yesterday but still came home early. Shefeels better, no more fever, but she still doesn't feel 100%. I just try to make sure she takes medicine and goes to bed early.

We hope she feels better!

It is a beautiful morning here, we woke up to a light dusting of snow and now the valley is foggy and looking pretty cool. I live in a mountain valley towards the "back" of the valley where the elevation gets higher and the valley gets smaller so the clouds collect here at times.

lousy photo bit I swear it looks cool! :D

Here's the view from my front door looking across the valley. I actually have a neighbor below me and another one somewhere across the mountain, he lives off the grid in a one room shack halfways up the mountain.

Here's looking out of the valley... my mailbox is somewhere near the horizon. Chokecherry trees are on the right, check the snow too. The chokecherries make the best jelly ever. If you guys remember me getting my car stuck this winter it was hanging off this drop off... slid there from my house. The dro[p off is hard to make out but there is actually a flight of stair hidden out of sight in this photo frame,

Looking back in to the valley, it goes back for miles and miles. These trees are just huge! Also taken from my front door

Daniel you have what I would call the most awesome views possible!!!

Morning gentlemen! Xander glad your wife is doing better. We all know if momma is not happy no one is happy! 2 weeks from Monday and I will be 45.Holy shit where did the time go.I still feel like I am in my twenties. Well my oldest will be 30 in October.I want to try to keep my self young as long as possible.

I am looking for a Ruger Blackhawk convertible for 45 long Colt and the extra cylinder for 45 ACP. They have what I want on Gallery of guns.Trying to wait to break it to my wife.I know it will be a big fight. She thinks I have too many now and I tell her you can have a lot but never too many.

You men enjoy your Friday!!!!

Since you said it was ok Daniel, here is what I have going on. First up my mini for the KITH.

Totally botched my first blade, I may try to salvage it still, but turned my efforts to this blade. W1, .025" at the ricasso, fully distally tapered and sortof hamon.

Using RyanW's standard unit of scale...

I may try to redo the HT the hamon didn't come out the way I had hoped.

Still undecided if I am going to do a full D guard or an S guard with this one.

Here is my M. Wohlwend DIY knife WIP.

I dropped the point a bit, the perfectly straight spine just was a little to rigid looking to me. Removed forge scale from the rest of the profile and ricasso. Scales are going to be Osage Orange and pins will be mild steel blued on the ends. I hoping this wood does ok with checkering and doesn't destroy the cutters, it is some super hard stuff! I'm going for 1911 style scales since the shape is similar and the location of the thong hole just adds to it.

Let me know what you guys think...

Lastly, here is a heavy duty Fin & Feather I'm making. More for like salmon and geese than grouse and trout. 1/8 1084, ~4+" blade, my first attempt at a hidden tang. Bronze guard, snake wood handle.

I have a few other projects lying on the bench, like a couple of slipjoints and stuff, but this is my current workload.

Happy Friday!

Morning men.Going shooting with a trooper friend then going to another friends cabin way back in the woods for some handgun shooting and some grilling. You guy's have a great Saturday!

Morning guys!

Good to see you here Gnarly, Xander, Bigcountry!

Xander those are looking good! That osage looks like a nice piece. I think the idea of a checkered 1911 style grip sounds too cool on that handle, that is going to look great! That is the best handle idea, you better hide that one or you may be forced into full time knifemaking!

The mini is looking sweet too! I bet that hamon was tough to get at all on something so small! Very cool and lots of skill goes into something so small!

I really like the salmon/goose knife :D awesome! I can't wait to see the guard on it. That will be a nice one for just about everything. The snakewood sounds excellent, that is one of my favorites and will go great with the brass guard. I'd like to see more brass on knives in general.

Cool

Well I was in the shop for about 10 hours yesterday and almost had to crawl home I was so tired from grinding. :D

The Legal EDC's are very, very close... I just need to clean and oil them, do the final inspection and photos then they will be done!  :D

Hey, thanx Daniel! That Osage came from DanCo's brothers house and he sent me a 4x4x10 block, so I have plenty! I hope the scales come out nice, I'm still debating scorching the surface of the osage before I attemp checkering.

Full time knifemaker?! You mean, like, actually sell something?

The mini hamon is a bit tough, but I make a very thin refractory clay, like the slip coat for a full sized knife, and shape the squiggly line with an exacto blade. I'm going to redo this one so maybe I'll snap a few pics.

I really enjoy making the minis. Yours is still my favorite I made! I was a model builder for years so the transition to making minis was pretty natural. I really enjoy figuring out how to make certain things at that scale, the challenge really captures my attention.

The Fin & Feather is another favorite pattern of mine. I have a real soft spot for bird and trout knives. I may commision one from you Daniel. This one I just beefed up a bit, more of a small hunter, but still able to process small game. Some makers call this size a "SGK." The bronze I have, you may remember, is of controversial origin. I don't want to open that bag of cats again on here, so I'll leave it to that. Anyways I have slotted it and am doing some fitting to the tang. Still working on post HT sanding right now to bring the edge to final thickness. Still don't know how I want to shape the handle either. I need to make a broach for it from some scrap.

I'll post some updates this weekend, I work today but have Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday off so I plan to get at least one full day in the shop!

Cool, scorched osage looks nice. Texas Osage!

Interesting on the hamon, sounds hard.

That mini you made is probably the coolest knife I own, it is really nice.

Talk to me on that SGK, I am no longer taking orders but that sounds like something I would like to do a run of. yes I finally mentioned that order thing...

Bronze cool, I said brass... I have an idea for some bronze based mokume I want to make when I can swing the extra supplies.

A broach would be a cool side project, I want to make one for a traditional Fighter I have in mind. W2, Blackwood and Wrought Iron. I'm holding olf on stuff like that for now though, my focus for the next few months will be production.

I'll be waiting for the updates!

Daniel sent ya an e-mail.I am pumped or hyped very much today I my new knife coming fom you.Just love those big old .36 thick choppers you make.Every one likes to call thick knives sharpened pry bars but I call them razor sharp life savers. They will never let you down when the chips are down!

Yours came in before the cut off so don't worry! :D I'm still talking to a few people on pending orders.

This decision to stop orders has been two fold. I have a 6 month wait currently and I need to concentrate on them before I take any more. The books may be open once I get more caught up. I also need to get more knives out there to everyone.

I want to really start dialing everything in material wise as well and am considering narrowing down my steel selection to S7, CPM-3V, a stainless steel and maybe 1084. I also am considering a line up of knives to have available all the time. I noticed while doing the recent big batch that I am getting better at everything through repetition.

I have started to explain everything a few times and erased it all. Let me just say that I hope to get a lot more knives out there!
