Best of luck with that! The money always helps. :)

I can't wait for your tanto ideas!

If I had a week to spend on one tanto I'd consider adding a wooden tang extension (whatever they are called, like on swords) then a wooden handle and saya for a one piece look when sheathed. I think this would work, not even sure.

Ahh hell, now I dint even bring my sketch book, and your throwing out crazy ideas like this?! Slow down, I don't even have it in my hand or know even what it's gonna look like! But I have been thinking out side the box!

Had a good ride to work, managed to cut through the park for a little mud action from the sprinklers. Got the heat rate up, blood flowing, and even breathing a little harder. It could just be the Rockstar though!

Check the two at the bottom of the page http://www.teruyasu.jp/en/products/index.html

lol no idea if mine would work this way

I have a kiridashi like that in my woodworking tool box... would be cool to see you create one Daniel. It takes a lot of work to get the saya to fit properly.

Cool, I am big fan of traditional tools.

One day I'll have to make some knives like those, it would be cool. I'd like to find some Hoo wood and burn in the handles.

I'm may try a 3 piece saya soon for a sword I have in the works, I also have a high tech one planned for a tactical katana I'm making to order later this year.

I'm taking a break from grinding that chopper, I have been grinding it about all day today and it is getting close! I think it has the potential to be a one to two chop 2x4 chopper.

IMWILSON, check this out!

Here is the Japanese name for your knife! http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...gress-Camp-Sword-BBQ!?p=10862349#post10862349

Xander, that reminds me of what a guy I used to work with always said;
" You don't know what fun is untill you get married....then it's to late.

Howdy gents!

I've been lurking here and there, but now that I'm addicted I figured I'd join the support group... :D

Ahh, the best part of being a grown up, I just had an ENORMOUS piece of tiramisou for breakfast! Also the fact that I can buy all the cool and dangerous toys I can afford!

Now a dose of reality, time to pay bills...

You rule! When I was a Baker we had a hard time not eating all the ladyfingers and drinking the espresso, good stuff. We ate creme brulees and rueben sandwiches for breakfast for a long time when I was a chef! I bet the calorie count was off the charts.

Bills... still paying last winters gas bills, propane is crazy expensive, $1000 each fill. That's a lot of knives! :D

Well, this is very likely my last post on BF for the coming months. I'm off to Halifax in a few weeks to do some "super secret training :D" involving boats, ships and guns. If I'm lucky a few knives too!

Have a great summer all!

and see you in August!

Just came back from an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record  They won't know if we actually set the record for a few weeks... these Guinness folks are pretty serious about this stuff. It was a lot of fun either way. Attempt was for the most people drumming at the same time: http://www.rocktherhythm.org/ They got the entire 6th and 7th graders from our area to fill the local football stadium to drum. Mickey Hart from the Grateful Dead was the lead and several other celebrity drummers were there including John Densmore from the Doors.

Daniel how many knives can I get for this one ?

Morning men.Going to the woods today to check a spot to hunt.Going to use my cane to make sure I do not fall.If anything feels like an earthquake today that will mean I fell! You men have a great Saturday!

Haha, I'm picturing the scene from Jurasic Park where the glass of water shakes...

Have a good one, if unsteady just remember to have three points of contact. I've been dying to get out in the woods, either on a bike or just hike in for a couple of days. I really need to get away for a few days.

Well I know most of you guys know me as a sailor, but in another life I was very heavily into bikes, I did a lot of mountain biking as well as road cycling. 600 miles in a week wasn't odd for me. I loved tight, twisty, technical and fast single track.

Here is some of the places I used to ride as often as I can. Also a glimps into the NorCal MTB scene, its a crazy lifestyle.

Me too! I may go rock collecting soon out in the desert! Lol I'll be in the mountains as soon as I get my brake rotors redone!

Good morning everyone!

Getting out in the woods sounds great! i could use a dose of that too!
I agree and I live in the woods! I just saw a deer through the window a second ago. I need to go see if the snow in the mountains just down the road has melted enough to check them out. :D

You guys have a great Saturday!
