Cool pic Xander, I'll try that.

Guiness is cool stuff, carbonated with a nitrogen/CO2 mix... it is cool to try other beers carbonated that way, it changes everything.

The heavily roasted grains in Guiness are more acidic than normal so the beer brews well with the local hard water. In contrast most light pilsners come from areas with very pure water, dark grains would make them too acidic to brew well. lol beer nerdery...

BigCountry, just got it, thanks. Email sent! :D

I just knocked $20 off all the knives I have for sale, trying to raise some money for a really good deal I saw on Titanium. A HUGE sheet of 6al4v!

Today only!

Morning y'all. Day off today, focast is calling for overcast with chance of rain! Gotta mow the lawns and do a little bit of yard work, but I think the first order of business is go get me a damn good breakfast! I'm thinking a savory crepe will be good today with a tall latté to go with it. Didn't get much done on my mini the other day, but I am determined to today! Maybe start a second one or finish some other projects I have sitting on the bench.

Will check in later.

Got back from taking my nephew and his fiance to see the Tahquamenon Falls. I am sore and beat.Going to kick back and relax!

I hope it was a good day! Good morning.

Your ring sheath is looking outstanding, my wife was working on the belt loop again this morning... looks tough! Heavy duty.

Good to hear, get that mini done!

I have been so busy I almost can't keep the days straight, we have to got to Farmington, NM and run a few errands today. My wife is leaving for a week on Wednesday and we are going for last minute knifemaking supplies as part of the trip so she can finish her current obligations.

We drove 120 miles round trip last Sunday to get leather dye but the store was closed... so ordered it Monday so we could have it in, Saturday the supplier told us they are sold out... I hope we can get it today!

Just finished a crepe, one of my favorites, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, capers, chives, sour cream and in a buck wheat crepe.

I think I'm only going to mow the front yard today, gotta get some shop time and it usually takes me a while to get in the groove. Good tunes always helps, and so does good beer...

Well, here comes the rain clouds...

Taken just a few minutes ago on my walk home from breakfast. Its only a 3 block walk, so if I got caught in the rain, no big deal. .25" is projected, the farmers aren't happy about it, the cherry farmers have been scrambling all week to get the fruit off the trees. If it rains, it pools on the top of the fruit near the stem and becomes a magnifying glass in the sun afterwards, causing the fruit to split. A late rain has ruined millions of dollars of crop before.

Afternoon men.Taking the family to the bear ranch today.Going to get pics of all of us with the bear cubs. You men have a great day!

Cool on the shirts, I'll ask Kevin. I almost asked earlier, glad you mentioned it. Shipping is getting steep these days.
Daniel,it is cool to send the shirt with Xanders stuff. I put a cutting edge on my kiridashi and used it at work all day.It worked great all though I got some strange looks from customers. In its unfished state it does kinda look like a prison shank:D. I have never used a kiridashi before and I found it to be very useful and fun to use.I have a few hours to work on it before I have to go to work so I am off .hope everyone has a good one. Later.

Nice photos Xander, looks cool there!

BC I want to see those! You know me and bears!

FBC, nice! That is the best kind of testing, regular use... that and cut some old dry wood

I think kiridashis are essential, I was freaking out the other day trying to find mine because I needed to score kydex, I can almost cut through the stuff with a reverse kiridashi grip, I bet the force would break my trusty SAK for example. They rock for de-burring holes too.

I was at the Army Surplus today looking at knives, I can't believe how much a production chopper goes for! they were cheaper than mine but looked like crap for only being a little less... I almost wanted to take one of mine in, they would cry! lmao... They did have some sweet new higher end Benchmades, I like their lines a lot.

Fun stuff and now we have the cord and dye we needed, that's good because my wife leaves for a week on Wednesday! Down to the wire...

I bought a belt blank, I'm going to make a leather belt for fun, I'm hoping one day to offer them for sale. I have always liked nice leather gear, long lasting things are cool to me.

Daniel , funny you should mention belts, yesterday my trusty old (about 5 years)cop belt was about to break so I grabed my swiss army knife and some rivets I had for making kydex sheaths and 15 min later my belt was better than new. can't change the belt buckle now but at least it is a dennisons chili belt buckle, vintage 70's. I was useing the kiridashi again at work, I am thinking it will stay on the EDC rotation for a loooooooooong time, and a co worker payed me one of the best compliments,he asked me to make him one and he would pay me! Maybe one day I will have my own sub forum haha.y'all have a good night

That is cool, make him one for sure! Subforum next! :D

Nice you restored your belt, new fittings are even better than a new one.

Night guys, going to sleep now...

Note to self, change torch back to a cooler one for working silver. Damn near melted the guard for my mini today. So I have shelved it untill I get better at working with it. Got a bronze one on it now, but I may opt for a dfferent style. Started the handle today as well, walrus ivory, but haven't done any real shaping yet. I have Wednesday off so hopefully I can get some more work done on it.

Morning men. The bear ranch ended up being closed when we got there so we went up to Lake Superior and hung out on a beach with no one else around for as far as we could see in any direction.

Good morning everyone! It's looking like a nice, warm day here. I'll be watching it from indoors though.

Hey Daniel, were you able to buy that Titanium?

Silver can be tough to work with, I know that! I still don't have silverwork down even though I keep saying I will learn and have the gear. If silver hadn't gone from $5-$30 in the time I have been using it I might be using a lot more. I was trying to start out with Argentium silver, you can fuse it without solder but it is tough to do. Good luck with everything! ganoskin.com for silver info

Awesome anvil setup! I need to swing by and check the thread, minis are way cool.

I bet that was nice! You guys have some killer Agates up there in some areas, I have always wanted to go look for some. I have one locally found amethyst based agate I polished into a sculpture, it weighs 22 pounds!

Here's what I started with. The sandbags are to keep my truck on the road in the snow. Oh yeah, they also reduce bruises and cracking when polishing big stuff like this.

Here it is after most of the high spots and bruises have been removed. This material is so hard and solid I decided to leave in some of the veils and vugs. The vugs are neat too, one barely got exposed; now it is a window to a geode.

Here is a very poor photo of the finished stone. I'll try to get a better one, the stone looks much better in person. Funky angle too... I took it to 50,000 and it looks like liquid when the sun hits it right.

I got it! I actually found a smaller piece at a better price per square foot, still huge too!
