I feel ya on feelin sorry for the critters. I once raised a yellow billed magpie that was orphaned after only a week or so. Smartest damn bird I have ever seen. Makes ravens and parrots look like pigeons. Cool thing too, is they are native to only this specific region, the San Joaquin Valley, so I felt I was doing a service to the species.

Damn, I got the munchies...cookies rule!

munchies... mmm

These squirrels are pretty smart too, I thought they were pretty dumb to be honest but they are actually kind of cool and learn very quickly. 2 of them really like nuts, one of them like berries, it is more shy too... one is a showoff and likes to steal the others food, one likes to stash all the food, it is way funny watching them.

Magpies are cool, I have a lot of them here. They work in teams and collect a lot of food.

munchies...

Yeah magpies are really cool. I rarely see a common black billed actually, almost always yellow billed. But they are only in about one hundred miles of this area so I really enjoy them.

One more cookie and another....

They seem super smart. My cat tried to get one once, it was pretty funny, the bird had him.

The other day I saw a hawk flying with some food, he dropped it accidentally and the magpies harassed him as a group until he left and then split up the food, it was hilarious.

coffee...

I cut up a bunch of Ti today and started a small shop fire, only a couple of paper towels but it keeps you on your toes. Knifemaking is always exciting.

So yesterday I was scribbling away in my knife sketch book and chomping on some altoids. Hmmm, I don't have a PSK, but I now have a tin, and I could make a knife to start it out. So I trace the outline of the tin and start drawing shapes inside it. Well the one I liked best just so happens to look very much like a DFK design! So Daniel, do you care if I borrow your signature style for one little knife?

That little kiridashi I was playing around with did come out pretty cool. It is sharp enough to whittle hair also! Ventuing into completely new territory for me as well, I'm making a leather sheath for it. I have never done any leather work before, we'll see how it turns out.

As the years pass by,
A young heart beats inside.
These dreams are yours and mine
That time can't take away

Name the song...

Bust it out! Sounds cool to me.

Those lyrics seem familiar but I'm not sure. It reminds me of something off of Zeitgeist, the newest Smashing Pumpkins album.

Your close on the lyrics, Bouncing Souls, "the gold song." I busted out that album last night, I forgot how much I like them.

I just finished up, ugghhhhh. I have been grinding for 8 hours today and I also hand sanded for about 3. My entire right thumb is one solid blister and I'm missing about half of 2 knuckles but damn, I profiled some cool stuff!

Wuss! When was the last time you used a file and hacksaw to profile even a small blade?! I do thoroughly enjoy using my disc grinder, but I now need a porta band saw for profiling. I do have a very large ODB half round file that leaves more crumbs quicker than cookie monster with the munchies, but it still takes a while. I need to make up some sanding drums for my new disc grinder to help with the profiling.

You have any recommendations for what paper I should get for my disc grinder? I am not too familiar with anything outside of what's used for hand sanding. I am very familiar with hand sanding...almost as depressing as when I was single....

Wow, I just read my last post, I need to stop posting when at the pub. Enjoying Dog Fish Head IPA, though! Sorry for being all over the place with that last one!

he he hehheeh hey I still bust out the files and paper on occasion, I have used up a case of paper and about 15 good files so far this year! I need a band saw in a bad way, I still profile with the grinder... the hacksaw does get some use.

ODB file.. YES.

Files do rock for straightening stuff up but for profiling... nope. :D 2 words - Harbour Freight. friction cutting time!

For discs if they make blaze pads (norton orange ones) they really rock. Trizact also rules. Blaze for removal trizact for finishing.
