Lol they want so much money! I played rugby in college and since it isn't a NCAA sport we didn't get funding, talk about a crazy time. We slept in cars or the whole team would sleep at someones house, lol maybe 10 to a hotel room, we did anything to go play. We were lucky enough to be sponsered by a bar though, free beer after the games with the opposing team. :D

LOLOL...that is hilarious Daniel!! :D

BigCountry, I know exactly what you mean brother...LOLOL After my wife and I returned from getting our son moved into his dorm, I immediately got a hold of Daniel and made an order. I've got a feeling Columbus, Ohio is gonna get my life savings, so I better get a few more blades ASAP...:D

Well I finished phase I on the boat I have been working on. Got 7 coats of oil, hand rubbed, on all the teak. Scrubbed clean inside and out, put it on th trailer and covered it up for winter storage. Phase II begins with the nest dry spell in a week or two, with a full strip, polish and wax. Maybe new graphics as well. This owner has been good to me, letting me work aty pace and bill him when done.

Putting a sailboat on a trailer is always a nerve wracking task, this boat weighs 4400lbs and we don't have a ramp long enough or a ramp capable trailer. My club has two cranes on site for lifting boats, and even though I have done it thousands of times for many boats, I still get nervous.

*snip*

Now I should have some time to get into the shop and make sharp pieces of steel for a bit.

Remind me to take a few pics when I haul out our boats... It's a bit scary. Especially since they all belong to the club and the crane is sketchy at best. (J22, Martin 242 and a Tanzer 22. The Abbot 22 and the Sonar didn't go in the water)

Yeah I have used some pretty sad looking cranes at some clubs before, never much fun. I really hate the hand crank ones the most. Our big one is one of the nicest in NorCal, all electric, 240* swing, really tall, 4800lb capacity and plenty of driving space to get lined up. Only thing that would make it better would be clutches to soften stop/start movements. It can jerk the boats around pretty good sometimes.

Your club has a nice little fleet there! I really like the Martin 242 and 243, but its hard to beat the J/22. I got to see a brand new Antrim 27 fall from a hoist a few years back. Gut wrenching. $100K boat destroyed by careless owners. They wouldn't let me claim salvage rights on it though, it fell onto the parking lot...

I'll have to get a pic of the boat I race on, classic meter boat, Columbia 5.5 meter. Should be right up Daniel's alley in terms of style.

Good news hopefully is coming soon, i had a job intrview today and they called me right after i left to schedule the drug test. I hope I get the job so i can order a nice new spike and knife combo from you Daniel! I have been without steady work since January and my unemployment ran out almost 4 months ago. Things have been tense, i have been trying to keep all non essential spending to a minimum while raising a 2 year old. I am down to just under 3 feet of steel left and that was a gracious gift from a member here. Not fun!

Keeping my fingers crossed, and looking forward to being able to take the wife out in her new little black dress soon. Although i should order a knife first since my wifes taste can easily exceed the cost of a custom knife! Hopefully you will hear from me soon Daniel!

Morning all. Grey and drizzeling here. Had an awesome lightning storm yesterday that dropped hail and about .5" of rain in under an hour!

Coffee time...

Morning everyone, It is snowing here! I have been busy lately with my wife's birthday, doctors appointments and all kinds of stuff.

I like all the boat pics, post 'em up!

Xander you are right on about the style I like, classic all the way. I really love the older race boats.

Happy birthday to the misses. Hope all the appointments are smooth and uneventful.

Have you had a chance to use the new drill press? Do you like it?

Thanks, everything is going very well and we are pretty sure after the ultrasound that we have a girl on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D

I still haven't gotten my drill press yet, I just did the 5 mile round trip to my mailbox and it still isn't there... I am getting worried as it was supposed to be in on the fourth, talk about taking forever.

Rugby, are you serious. I played for UNT and Sam Houston. And it was the same. People lying all over the place in one room, out in our cars, and once while at the Mardi Gras tourny I was left in New Orleans passed out in a bar. Man one day I am going to have to meet up with you and drink a beer. My wife was actually a rugby girl and that's what is great about here. She can drink and sing the songs with the best of them. I had to do my ZULU at Texas A&M.

Wow, I'm just in from the shop, sheath making is a long process. Tomorrow I'll finish the final details and take some photos. I'll have a few for sale.

DanCo - No way! I played for Texas Tech! I grew up about 60 miles from Texs A&M, my Dad went to school there. Cool!

I hope you are feeling OK, lol no rancid butter!

Yeah, super sharp for sure! I think so far with my new batch my cleaver is going to be a really sharp one... with a 3" tall flat grind you can't go wrong! :D

Morning Guys, we still have snow on the ground here, it's 54 in the house right now! I told my wife I was cold making sheaths outside, she told me it was 38F out, no wonder I was cold.

I hope to get this new round finalized and start cutting some metal! I'm going to try to knock out more some orders with this new round... the Havok, .36 Special, EDC's, and bushcraft knives. Maybe some Ti if I get that far.

Man 54* in the house, that's rough! I turned the heater on yesterday for the first time because it was 67 in the house! My wife is always complaining about being cold.

Congrats on the little one! I chose to find out before birth as well. Didn't want to deal wth returns, or redecorating the bedroom. Stock up on diapers and wipes now, its easier than trying to buy them after she gets home. Also don't buy a ton of newborn size diapers, my son was out of them in about 3 months. They grow so fast, about an ounce a day in weight gain. Wipes you will use til they are about 4 or 5 for anything and everything. Never have enough wipes. Oh and don't try th cheap brands of diapers, Huggies are the best. Nothing like a shit-belt from an overflow out the top!

Sloth- I litterally spit out my beer laughing when I read your comment about cleaning poo off nuts! I just had a bad diaper explosion right before!

We keep it cold, propane is costly stuff and I haven't chopped any wood either. We get 15' of snow each year here, 2 years ago it got over my roof high.

Cool on the diapers, we haven't bought a thing yet.

Congrats on the baby girl.I will say both of my daughters cost me way less money than my son.He literally is a money pit..............lol.Orders coming up makes me excited. I am in Marquette right now for family weekend at my daughters college.should be interesting!

daniel - we tried cotton washable diapers.. to be environmental and save some cash.. also it's rumored babies are easier to potty train with washables due to the fact you have to change them so often and they are more uncomfortable on the baby.. we went and still use pampers.. seems to work for us.. on a side note, the 4 dozen cotton diapers make great knife cleaning rags :) as well as any clean up..

wipes, yes keep them in stock.. buy diapers by the bulk if they go on sale.. shiz is expensive.. don't forget lots of baby wash clothes- indispensable. Same with swaddle type blankets, cotton of course..

AND, the baby won't be happy with 54F inside! unless you wrap her up like an Eskimo :) And don't let it be too smokey indoors with wood burning stoves.. that can cause asthma. infants are way more susceptible to "gaining" health problems.. what won't change your health could be very altering to hers. THANK YOU SPELL CHECK.

Is it beer o'clock yet? O_O

Thanks for the tips!

Yeah, no 54* with a kid, lol. We need to turn the heater on but are hoping for a warmer day, we like to run it with the doors open for a couple of hours, they stink when you first crank them up. We didn't burn wood last year. I am tired of the smoke and the mess anyways. I may be the propane co's indentured servant.
