Done for the day. Put the 7th coat of oil on all the teak today. Came out nice, and the boat looks good. Took a lunch break and went out on my buddies jet boat for a screamin run up the river and back. I really didn't want to go back to work on the boat.

Two of my favorite breweries come from Michigan and one from Colorado:

Founders and Bells from Michigan.......love their stuff!!!

Oskar Blues (love their Ten Fidy Imperial Stout) from Colorado

Good beer! I have been into Durango Amber and Anchor Steam lately, I'm drinking a Guiness right now.

Nice! I love teak, I may buy some for a knife handle one day. I bet that jet boat was cool! They are really neat, I want one! I like how they work.

I took they day off to go run errands, it was fun... we also went north of Durango to check out the fall colors, it is beautiful here this time of year. I spent the evening cord wrapping a knife, black over rayskin. Epoxy tomorrow...

I got a BB/pellet gun today for fun, a Daisy Powerline 880! 750 fps, I think it is pretty accurate from the little shooting I have done. I'm try not to shoot my eye out.

Dan I hear you on the tourist prices. Our whole town is geared around tourist and the prison. People come from all over to see the Tahquamenon Falls and in winter there is just tons of snowmobile trails. Right now is the fall color tours going on. Bow season starts tomorrow. With the big woods up here I prefer to stalk. I can not stand to sit and wait.Once you see the deer then you have to out wit him to get a clean shot. I have shot them before have them take two jumps look around and fall over dead. Qualities of shot placement and razor sharp broadheads.

Dude, you know how much teak I throw away off of boats?! I'll try to remember to save some good pieces for you, don't buy it. I have been wanting to do a stainless knife with teak handles for the boat for a while now. Maybe when I get a job ill order a rigger and spike from ya with teak handles!

The jet boat is a lot of fun! Going 40mph and yanking the wheel over to full stop sending the boat spinning and sliding is a crazy good time. If you can make it here this weekend, I have the keys!

I had a daisy 880 for a long time, good little gun, great times!

Morning men. Wanted to bowhunt this morning but the winds a horrible out. Then it is suppose to get up in the 70's next week. I guess that will be our Indian summer.

I had a scary night last night, when we got home our valley was filled with smoke and by nightfall you could tell there was a fire on the other side of the valley coming over the top of the mountain. I thought we were going to pack and get out, we don't get TV transmitted here so I had no idea how bad it was. We also saw flashing lights after a while on top of the mountain... how they got there I have no idea. We kept watching and it didn't get worse, eventually probably 50 trucks left the valley. It turns out they had a pretty big fire all day while we were gone and were just putting the last of it out. If it had gotten bad it would have swept down the mountain in 10 minutes and taken everything out.

Later today I'm going to have to see how they drove up the mountain, it is probably at least 1000 feet almost straight up through dense forest.

It is still very smoky...

If you go into any of the burn areas be real careful of widow makers. Trees that look fine that will fall over with a slight breeze.

Morning guys...

Good tip on watching for widowmakers. I haven't checked it out yet, I have been in the shop.

Today... more cord wrapping and G10 shaping. :D

I got 2 handles shaped and 2 cord wrap handles soaked with epoxy today, I'm just done... they look good!

Yikes. I'd see if you have something sharp laying around to clear a defensible space around your home. ;)

I'm glad all is ok.

I'll have to see what I can do! I try to keep it cleared (I used to use a chainsaw but machete is faster) but it is dense forest here with scrub oak all around my house... scary stuff. It rained last night which is good, my neighbor told me the fire is still going and they (fire fighters) are leaving at night, it is hopefully mostly out now with the rain. The last bad fire here took out 45 houses and this one is only 1/2 mile away. Lol the last fire here was started by the same idiot, apparently he lives on the hill in a yurt.

We are going in for an ultrasound today!

Morning.Enjoy the ultrasound,it will be the first official pictures of your child. Time goes by too fast.Went to Marquette (110 miles away) and spent the day with our youngest. It was like dam you were in elementary a few days ago and now you are in college. That is why I tell everyone to enjoy every minute with your kids.Lost time spent with them can never be made back up. I was guilty of that with my first two having to work 2 full time jobs and a part time one on week ends. When I was home I just slept.
