Can't get too loud with a 2yr old riding in the back ya know :D

Haha, my son loves the bass, at a resonable level! When I turn it up he throws his hands up and and starts saying "boom boom daddy!" Its the funniest thing! The wife and I didn't have a tv for a long time and not even cable until my FIL moved in, so we always listened to music in the house and danced almost daily for our evening entertaiment. My son just loves music now and has figured out to push a chair up to the shelf with my stereo and fiddle with the knobs to try and turn it on! He could care less about what's on TV. Only problem is now he wakes up at night when its too quiet! No problem about being noisy when he's asleep, but just the opposite! Try to remember this Daniel when your little girl comes home, have lots of noise for the first few weeks when they nap it will make life much easier!

Headphones on Mrs Fairly's belly, with your music of choice.

Yea, that home theater setup is amazing. You can stand directly in front of one Martin Logan ESL driver and still make out channel separation.

I'm not much of a loud-as-you-can-stand-it type of guy either, I always aimed for sound quality. Back then however, SPL got all the attention. I installed a system in my friend's 25th anniversary Trans Am that competed in the 50-watt class (yup, you read that right, 50 watts), and I used one Punch 45 there (22.5 x 2 @ 4ohms, lol). Soundstage was nonexistent, as it was almost impossible to tune it for phase and accuracy, but I drove that amp down to 1/4 ohm with 8 10's in an isobaric config (Rockford only rated the amp stable to 1 ohm). It was LOUD, and won every single SPL competition he entered that car in, even against cars with 10 times the power. sounded like crap though. In the end, my car audio setup consisted of 2 waveguides up front, separates for rear fill, and 2 10"s in a custom enclosure that I designed using LEEP software to make it with the least amount of airspace, but tuned the ports to bring down the resonance down to 22 Hz at 4 ohms. Naturally, I had to step up in class because I was using more power, but the SPLs were just too low this time around. Still consistently placed in the top 3 for sound quality until I sold the car. Today, I don't even upgrade the stock systems, I just listen to the engine mostly. A stroked 392 hemi makes great music :)

Mornin gents! I am stuffed up horribly today, but a saline shot to the sinuses will clear it out. I'm amped up, I start my new job today! Been struggling to make ends meet for almost a year now, the stress and tension at home has been brutal. This is a huge weight lifted off my chest. The money isn't great, but its better than no work!

Thanx guys! I don't start til 12 today, so I get a half a day to myself. Biggest upside to this job is I get medical/dental benefits! Been too long since I have had any healthcare benefits at all.

Hey I noticed there are 2 different threads going of people getting large chips in there knife blades. One while the guy is battoning and the other when a guy is trying to cut a 3 inch green sapling. That is why I only deal WITH MAKERS i KNOW i CAN COUNT MY LIFE ON!

From what I have gleaned.. it seems as though first off, getting exceptional stock is key. Then HT makes or literally breaks the knife. Understanding the steels structure and limits is up to the maker and hopefully they don't push the steel beyond its innate characteristics..

Or somethin' somethin' :D

I agree with you about the excellent stock and heat treat them are what makes or breaks a knife. These two one is from a company that bashes every other company and put out their proof videos. The other everything comes from Nepal. With out saying names cuz I don't believe in bashing someone with out them being able to speak up for them self. One maker has had several of his knives chip on the blade one from someone trying to pry some candy out of the bottom of a jar. I was in the Corps and can tell you I put my Kabar through hell and never had a problem and that is a stick tang.Just my 2 cents kinda why I research a maker before making an order.

Stick tang, hidden tang, or full tang: all are plenty strong. Steel choice is 49%, heat treat is 50% and design is 1%. A maker that stands beside his work is worth 200%! Stange things happen, even to the best makers, so given the chance to make things right the maker should be the deciding factor in a situation like that.

oooooooo, me me me! I'll say the name! Cold Steel! :D That pos is such a moron! lol There I said it, and I don't care. You watch any of CS videos with the founder and it's obvious this guy is a total jack ass. I'm sure he doesn't care one iota what I say as... well, too many people buy his crap based on what they see as "cool factor" and low cost. I really try to vote with my dollar, and I can say I never have bought nor will buy a CS nor a variety of other mass produced cheap pos. I take pride in supporting the little guy when it's an option and custom anything, local anything, to keep the money close to home and in the hands of real individuals not greedy pigs or enormous companies. I also do my research and when I do buy from the mass produced companies I make sure they are giving back and keeping business "fair" as much as possible.. We live in a dog eat dog world and times are only getting shadier.

Yes, I am typing on a Logitech kb, viewing on my Samsung screens, being powered by Nvidia and Chinese made computer parts.. YUK. Hard to avoid mass produced/foreign made technology though :/

I continue to support local furniture, food, some clothing, music, ACTUAL BOOKS, and try to entertain myself and family outdoors as much as possible.. Life is a compromise. I just try to keep the balance tipped to the "good" side.

I didn't want to turn this into a rant, but the CS comment made me do it! haha

Holy crap... I just got in, my laptop died yesterday and I have been on a nonstop mission since to get a working computer.

I'll spare you guys the story for now but let me say that I freaking hate Best Buy! They are not good people.

I got in my Mokume from Jantz, they sent me the wrong stuff and were super rude about it and told me to pay shipping both ways on it for return BUT they don't have any in stock. They claim to have 8 types of 1/8" mokume and it sounds like they have been sending out one kind to everybody. WOW!

On the good side I got a new Toshiba laptop for a great deal. :D I'm back up and running!

I have been busy the last couple of days in the shop and have gotten a lot done by the way. I also contacted the shipping co about my drill, it is a week late but they told me I should expect a call from the driver soon, according to tracking it has been nearby for 10 days, I expect it very soon.

Order Status

Havok - waiting on drill, ready to heat treat

36 Special - profiled, ground, close to being ready for heat treat

3/16 edc proto - almost ready for the kiln

O1 Bushcraft knife - heat treated, sharp, needs signature and scales... have girls knives all glued up but still haven't shaped the G10

Ti Backpacker w/scales - profiled, waiting on drill to finish

Newer orders... not started yet but I have my materials all ready, will get started after this round

Gnarly, I haven't forgotten about the stuff we talked about

I hope to get my KFU collaboration chopper and KITH knife started soon also.

+1 on hating Best Buy.The nearest one is only 115 miles away. Every time we go in there my wife always finds these Blu Ray movies she really wants. Next thing you walk out going where did $100 go. Then next door there is a Gander Mountain. It has to be the smallest one in the country. Cabelas gun section is bigger than there store.Talk about high prices on ammo.Go to Walmart and get the same thing for $10 less.

Yeah, I hate BB too. Got one 5 min away- I drive half an hour to another store rather than deal with them!!

Sounds like your stayin real busy, even with all the other distractions. Updates are great, but I second:

"Daniel we need pics brother!"

Pics soon! I'm still getting everything back up and running and my camera's program is next on my list to install! :D I should have pics tomorrow.

LMAO Gossip too! I couldn't miss out on the chat room here either, too much fun!

Best Buy, it is 65 miles away so I called before I left to make sure they had the computer I wanted in stock. I got there and sure enough, one left! I went to check out and it was $100 more than the sale price??? They told me it had been improved in the store by taking off "the extras" (lol what extras and why?) and it was more because of that. They tell me they can't sell it for the sale price because of the "work" they did but if I let them work on it for a day or two they could have it back to the original condition?

So in other words they wanted more money for a lesser computer, lied to me about it being in stock at the advertised price, and then they wanted to work on it more so they could reduce the price back to original? WTF!!!

The manager told me he "just couldn't let it go" knowing they had put so much work in to it yet wants to spend more time on it to reduce the price? Funny stuff...

At least Toshiba is cool, I bought a Dell that died in 2 days, got two round trips to India over about 6 months and then was returned to me taken apart and doused in soda. No joke! That POS never did get fixed, I only got 2 days out of it.

WTF is right!! Sounds like their typical BS

Toshiba is real cool. Got one when the oldest started college, bought ours last year.

Yeah I really like Toshiba, I literally plugged it, answered about 3 questions that took 30 seconds and I was on the net! It doesn't have any demos or stuff I wont use and is fully on in about 30 seconds, no messing around!

I should make computers on the side, lol! "Computers for hard use" Maybe an S7 chassis and a bulletproof G10 screen... lmao!
