that a 4-5inch blade? what are those scales.. ahhhhhhhhhhh the insanity!

I have two completely different tantos in the works! This one is about 10.5" with 4.5" of sharpened blade. The scales are black paper micarta, light and tough! I texturized them earlier and this one is finished up, sheath time! More pics soon...

Cold here too, it is certainly winter here! I already need to break out the sledgehammer, I can't open my back door from the ice buildup!

Can I say all my knives are cryo treated now? "Umm these knives got really cold."
 
Morning Gents. I surprised my wife by picking up our son from college last night (he has a 3 day break from school). Lookin' forward to spending time with him. Everybody stay warm and have a safe weekend!
 
Was on parade this morning, it wasn't as cold as last year, but it's always cold on Remembrance Day.
Sang "In Flanders Fields" and got the band master/conductor/MWO to cry... (You won't find our version on youtube)
 
Marc enjoy your time with your son.I bet your wife loved that surprise.I can not get away with that because my daughter is over 100 miles away.
 
Hey guys! I'm having major problems with my phone line/internet so if I'm a little late on returning an email or posting pics, I'm sorry, my service is intermittent.

I just had the phone company send a repairman over but he didn't find a problem, I hope to have it fixed soon.
 
That's no fun. Sorry you are having line issues, and hope by the time you're reading this, it is solved.

We all need our Fairly Knives Fix, lol.
 
I thought I had it fixed but I'm guessing I need a new modem/router, it works for a minute here and there. My wife is getting an inexpensive non-cordless phone today so we can go out and see if the line is bad on our side but I think it is the modem. I can always go to the library if it gets dire!

I have scales on 8 knives glued up and will start shaping them as soon as the epoxy is cured... 29 more hours to go!

I'll be working on some Ti for orders in the meanwhile.
 
LOL I think I may have fixed the internet! Redneck style, I ran the phone cord out the window to the box and it is working with no static on the line again! I hope it lasts!

I still have to really fix it but now that I think I have the problem narrowed down it should be easy! I could probably redo the entire line in half an hour...

Mike, it's a 2 1/2 hour drive to my son's dorm at OSU, but I "fibbed" to my wife and told her I was in southern Ohio huntin' with my good buddy Bill Akers (Backwoods Knives). When she got home, she asked where the deer was at, and I started laughing and in popped my son to surprise her....:D
 
Morning guys! I'm going to be wrapping Ti handles today and if I get done early enough starting my KITH knife.

The KITH is a knifemakers exchange and I have been wanting to do it for about three years now... Knife In The Hat. I'm making a high end version of my "Legal EDC" for the exchange, it everything goes right it will have Black Jade and raindrop Mokume scales. I am hoping to make two of them if it goes right!

Is this the one you posted drawings of a while back? It will look awesome!! Let's hope everything goes right.
A pair of those blades would be outrageous knife porn. :p

I am excited to be able to do it! I have watched it for a few years so it is a big deal to me.

I hope so too! I have never tried a bolster and Jade is tough stuff to work with. If my plan goes right I will sell one of them along with the other "Legal EDC's" as part of the run.
