I got some grinding done and scales cut but had some minor technical difficulties today. I need another diamond wet saw blade to cut my carbon fiber. I hope for a band saw soon! I want a chop saw too... I decided to grind a bigger fighter in W2 steel to get something done because I like the profile so much. W2 probably gets the best hamon of all steels, it is a really high spec steel and I am excited to try it out.

I haven't tried W2 but have used W1 and got some killer hamon results. If you try it with water quench, be sure to strap on your big brass cajones, it is absolutely nerve-wracking! I have gotten decent results in ~100* peanut oil, but proper quenchants are highly recommended for best results.

CF can be cut with standard abrasive disks, but it really puts lots of dust in the air, which is no bueno. Just sayin...

Morning guys...

Xander, nice hamon! I think I might get some Parks 50 for the quench, I know it would be nice. I have some fast oil but I hear the Parks really brings out the Hamon. Lol I'll probably get impatient and brine quench it!

Morning men. Daniel sounds like you have a lot going on. That is why I am going to hve to hurry so I can order that other knife before your too famos!!!!

Daniel sent ya a couple more e-mails.Hope not to be a PITA..........lol It beingcold and snowy out all I can do is dream of how sweet that knife from you is going to be.It will have to share time with my others. You know hard use knives have to be used to really appreciate them and give you full confidence in them! Daniel your knives definetly do that!!!

Evening Gents. Daniel, looks like this is gonna be a great (and busy) year for you!
I've been busy the last few weeks and haven't had a lot of spare time on the forums. My son was home visiting for almost a month from college. The highlight of his visit was him killing his first deer (Remington "Classic" rifle with 6.5x55 Swedish hand loads). He's a Bio-Chemistry major (Pre-Medicine) in the honors program at Ohio State University. I told him it was time to get his head out of the books and into the woods... :D

Morning men. Expecting 10 days of rain to start tonight or tomorrow, been over two months since we had any rain at all! December was the driest it has been in over 30years. That big storm that pummeled Alaska last week is finally getting down here to NorCal. Hard freeze warnings all this last week, and had 70* highs the week before, sure has been screwey weather lately!

SWMBO finally went back to work yesterday after more than a month off. I love that woman to death, but damn I was getting tired of her being home all the time! Maybe now I can actully get some shop time in soon. Got some new ideas on the drawing board, just need to put them to steel.

Strange weather! Lol it is nice to have a break isn't it! Get some shop time in!

Hmm wondering where Daniel is.Have not seen him on line at all today.I hope everything is alright!

I have been super busy, I have taken 5 trips to town in the last day, and was up at 2 am yesterday morning sick... it has been a long last couple of days. I'm going to keep at it hard until the shop is done, I just can't wait!

Hopefully he is insulatin and rockin' his new shop!

I have all my insulation! Lol and some on me too! I'm going to spend tomorrow hanging all that I can!

I'll be alternating between finishing the shop and working on knives for the next few weeks, I'll be busy for sure. :D

Morning men.It is -4 here and -21 with the windchill. I am going to keep my happy go lucky self inside all day. Got a buddy coming over tonight. He is going to mount my new scope on my Weatherby Mark V Accumark 300 mag. I am going to take the scope that was on it and put it on my T/C Black Diamond muzzle loader. I am pretty pumped because they finished a new shooting range this past fall. You pay $20 a year and get a key to the gate. They have permanent tables and seats made out of concrete and wood. Only bad thing is it only goes out to 200 yards.

Mike,

Sounds like your gonna have an awesome Weatherby setup brother!!! Keep us posted. I'm supposed to be getting a new mount today for my AR. I'm gonna get the scope on it and thin out the coyote population on Bill Akers' property.....:D

I'm stoked, it's 48* and raining here! I usually don't like the rain, but we need it very badly. I actually had to water my lawn and plants for the last month! Of course I just washed my car three days ago...

I have been gettin the itch to finish up my 1917. Maybe this year I can get it done. Been doing lots of networking in the local liars clubs at the 'smiths shops and gun stores looking for someone willing to drill and tap my receiver for less than $100.00. These Eddystone rifles are notorious for being stubborn nd tough on equipment. I think I remember seeing Rc numbers in the 55+ range for these receivers, and it is 4140 chrome-moly-nickel. Once its done I plan on getting a new Redfield 4-12x40 with duplex reticle. Been seeing great extended review results, and they are made by Leupold and have the same guarantee.

Daniel, you got room for shootin on your mountain?
