Thanks Gnarly. I'm excited to have all this cool stuff coming in!

I just finished up for the day, it was a long one. I have the first 360 finished up and it looks bad to the bone!

I also worked on a bunch of sheaths and other stuff, it was a productive day.
 
Hey Daniel, thanks for all the kind words about the knife I sent you. I hope you enjoy it. Please do let me know what I need to work on. I know of a few flaws I made on that one but because I know they are there they stand out to me. Any words of advise about making knives would be appreciated.

I think you could have improved it by 100% by sending two of them, it isn't too late. :D Honestly I really can't think of anything that stands out as needing improvement, it is kick-ass! I'll look it over very carefully and see if I can figure anything out. :D

Xander, my advice to you as a knife make is to make tons of knives out of that 1080 steel, it is great steel and somewhat affordable. I think repetition is truly the key to success. You did a great job with that one and it has a ton of difficult to make features, guard, 4 grinds that all have to meet up perfectly, the stacked handle, pommel... tons of tough details. It really came out excellent and I hope you keep up the great work.

Thanks again, your too kind! But c'mon it is my first knife, everyones first knife has issues! I really liked the mini you made, wouldn't of minded getting it. Oh, and I'm glad you could read my chicken scratch on the note. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask. I still know almost all the dimensions by heart. I got a "thing" for numbers and sequences. (Being trained as a metrologist doesn't hurt either). Two would be better?! Let me see what I can come up with...I have a nice axis and ally set in mind...

This is my genuine '33 Nazi SA dagger in my own axis and ally set. I think a scale mini to go with that US M3 would make a nice set. Ill keep you updated.

Saturday morning is finally here! I have a damn wood pecker outside my window right now trying to wake up everyone in the house! The ring neck doves are talking, mocking birds are squawking, scrub jays and starlings are chatting up a storm. I love these mornings sometimes! I will have my coffee and sit on the porch listening to the sounds of nature before the city wakes up. Chirping birds get drowned out by shopping carts full of bottles and cans rattling down the street, still air becomes stirred and poisoned by buses and garbage trucks. I can lways tell when the Ghetto wakes up, I can here the wail of sirens miles away from an early morning raid...

Aaahhh, I just love urban life! I just can't wait to leave it all behind. Time for another cup of coffee.

It's F'ing cloudy and rainy today.. past 6yrs its never rained on this weekend.. it's a festival weekend in town.. most people ride bikes to it.. today might be a sucky day here.. oh and yeah quiet.. to my north I have a few miles of forsest.. To the east a mile or so.. and I hate ring tailed pigeons.. :D lately its tanagers waking me up.. sometimes a red naped sap sucker.. they are louder than you think when all you can hear is your own heart beating.. O_O

back to the cave to get some smoke going.
 
I have those same sap suckers here, they go crazy on the pines and spruces around my house. The coolest bird we have is the Stellar Jay, they look like a big cooll blue jay and the mating pairs live in the same area and are together for life. We have 2 here that work together, one makes squirrel "chirping" sounds to scare away other competition and the other goes crazy picking acorns off the scrub oak. They only live in wooded mountain environments between 7000-8000 feet so they are rare but i see them all over.

I'm still waiting to see this one type of squirrel we have, they look like a fox almost and have these funny pointed ears and look like they weigh 20 pounds.

I saw a coyote stalking a deer once from my living room window, it was wild! Even cooler was this mid hibernation battle these 2 chipmunks had, they ran for maybe 100 yards at a time chasing each other through the hard packed snow, one would run maybe 10 feet up a tree and jump off pouncing the other viciously... they ran for a couple of hours this way until both were so tired they were literally crawling after each other. It was the middle of winter and you never see them out then, it must have been something serious!
 
Yeah the ring necks can be annoying. But nothing peirces your brain quicker than the ear-splitting squeak of a lovebird only a few feet away! I have to move my bird at night away from the window because he answers the birds outside at like 430 in the morning!

That German Knife you posted is sweet! I have always wanted one, they have a really cool modern look to them... I still have plans to make a knife like that one of these days, I really like the way the double guards look and function.

I have been looking at your mini trying to find something that needs improvement. It is tough finding anything. I guess if the original was parkerized you could have done that but I wouldn't buy a whole setup for a mini, in fact I have a setup and might not have used it. We discussed that in the mini thread and you did it right! The bluing looks great.

That mini is one cool knife!

I'm going to be trying hard to get some good photos of a certain Krypto .360 Knife I finished up yesterday... lets hope the sun comes out!

My wife built a light box but we need to get some better bulbs, the color is off.
 
Yeah if I was going to parkerize it I would have done all features to keep it to scale, but some of the first ones made were actually blued. I have been looking for an early one for a while. I will get started on a mini SA dagger for ya soon.

You know I was just joking about another one, trust me I am more than happy with what I got! If the early ones were blued then I have a dead on accurate original mini! I was hard pressed to come up with anything so I mentioned it. My wife and I keep looking at it in amazement. It is on such a small scale there is no way I could have pulled it off!
 
Well I don't know when it will be, but you will be getting another one from me! Think of this as a way to get the knives you always wanted! I enjoy making things and enjoy it more when others like them. Besides I could use the practice if I am going to be a knife maker when (if) I grow up! Only difficult part with the SA dagger will be the emblem in the handle. I will do it in the same scale so it will be a true set.

I just hope you know your mini was bad ass and there is nothing you need to do to improve it!

A trade sure sounds cool though... :D
 
Woohoo! On my way to the club! Wifes 28th birthday is tomorrow. I knew there was a reason I let my father in law move in, he's watching my son tonight. Been waaaaay too long since I have taken the wife out dancing.

I may post an update tomorrow, if I am sober by then....
