Gluing scales, always my least favorite part. Seems like tons of work prepping for it and only 5 minutes of work, then checking on it for the next hour to make sure nothing moves. I got one coming up I have to do hopefully this week, my first hidden tang.
Speaking of gluing scales...any more glamour shots of that teak?!

Yeah gluing scales is crazy, always an adventure. It is amazing how long everything takes.
I spent about 20 minutes sanding each scale end to get them ready, that was 30 ends total... 10 hours. Before that I used a hacksaw to cut 30 pieces of tube then deburred the 60 ends, it takes a while. You'd think G10 or micarta would come flat too, nope!
More teak photos soon!
How about "Daniel's Big Country check in". I figured we should give a nod to BC since he posts on this thread almost as much as you.

This thread is like the family white board, where everyone lets everyone else know what they are doing. ha ha
LMAO!
I must check in more! You guys too!
Agree! BC keeps this thing bumped up; enjoy his postings.
'family white board'....I like that.
BTW: Any updates on Sally T., JUST1MOR's Lady?
Let's keep her in our thoughts & prayers.
If I get off work @ a decent hour tonite, may try to call them.
It is way appreciated and it's always good to hear and see what everyone is up to.
Please send your thoughts or prayers out to Sally and Bill everybody! They are really good people and I am hoping for the very best.
Morning men.I am humbled by you gentlemen! Yesterday I found out another mechanic did not do what I paid him for on my daughters Jeep. Now another $250 for that and $440 for new wheel bearings to be installed. Rather it be safe than not. What pisses me off is paying for something that was suppose to be done before and to find out they spliced and taped the wire after telling me the soldered it. When I go to their shop I will threaten to sue.
Hey BigCountry!

That sucks, sounds like here but cheaper. It is horrible here, no one will give you a decent deal, everyone charges $120 for analysis regardless of what they do and then the charges pile on. I'll spend a week working to pay them for their 4 hours. When I first moved to Durango I had a brake leak and took my car in, I had stripped the bleeder and tried to drill it out resulting in a snapped bit. I couldn't fix it at the time with what I had so I took it in, it was a great car. I got charged $500 for the bleeder and work... the guy told me I needed a new brake booster too which cost way more. I finally picked up my car, drove it 1/4 mile and the brakes seized up. I called the shop, they tried to charge me for a tow back even though I could see the place... long story short they claim it was a separate incident even though it was obviously their fault and I wound up with no car. I had to sell it and borrow a car to get back on my feet. (about a week later the UPS guy hit it, he freaked and I told him to just replace the broken taillight and he skipped town on me... sucks not to be able to trust anyone here. ) I told the mechanic he may have gotten away with this one but if I ever see him while I am out hiking it's on! They are a bunch of scammers here, a few winters ago my buddy put his truck in the ditch in a storm and they charged him $750 for the tow, back in TX that would have been $100. What's funny is that because of all the trust funders here they look at me like I'm the weirdo when I complain about the high prices.
Morning all, BC that really sucks!! Get a lawyer to write them a letter. It may cost you $200.00, but you may get your money back from the auto shop. Not to mention satisfaction.
Yep kick some butt!
Morning!
BC- take photos now. save those receipts.. make them pay. thanks, gnite. (well its mornings but who says, thank you and good morning!) Been up for a while already and trying to work on this PC with a pained shoulder is making me want to "take the day off"... meh.
That sounds correct to me, document everything! Thank you goodnight!
LOL I have a 3.6 GPA and only 45 hours left to graduate, before I met my wife and stayed in the Caribbean for a few years I was going to be a lawyer. Maybe I should finish up just so I can go screw with the guys who piss off my knife customers!
Bummer. But one way to take care of it is to walk in to the waiting area when there are a bunch of custmers there, ask for the manager and start a scene. Be loud and pissed off, maybe drop the "F-Bomb" a couple times (if children are not present). Make sure you expose their mistake to everyone in listening distance. If they cut corners on a simple wire splice, just for price gouging, what else do they cut corners on?!
I have had to do this a few times before I found a reliable mechanic that takes a while and made some mistakes, but works for beer (yep, I do my own work now). You would be amazed at how fast you can get them back pedaling by exposing their game. I was charged $120 for a jacka55 to replace two fuses, when I told him I had a short somewhere. He said it was from trailering, I didn't to anything, and I tested my own circuits. Then they never called me to tell me its done, I had to call them. Anyways, that's how I deal with that type of situation.

I hear you! People wonder why the economy is messed up but we have people screwing people over and because of political correctness most think the reaction is worst than the crime!
I'm trying the Gene Simmons approach now... you WILL fix this, please.
LOL

OK back to our regularly scheduled program!
