Ugh, well, this Friday 13th has been a tough one. My wife lost her job today. She was the kitchen manager for a county run non-profit program, the Child Abuse Prevention Center, and due to tight budget, a major infestation of incompetance in the senior management of many county programs, and what is looking like nepetism, some director somewhere who makes an appeance once a year decided to clean house. My wifes boss almost quit because she had no idea that 4 people, one of which is her best friend, have been terminated without notice, or reason. She is all torn up over this, she loved her job and had only been there 4 months. Well, now the job hunt starts. I hope something comes up sooner than later.

Tomorrow is a new day...

I was working more on the friction folder design and have to say, it is going to rock! Today I'm working on D2 tantos, hopefully soaking some cord wraps and sending delivery notices out. If I owe you a knife it is on the way!

Mornin y'all. Thanx for the well wishes, everyone! She's a pretty tough girl, doesn't get her ego hurt too easily, so other than a littl confusion over the whole thing, and some contempt, she is doing fine. Got her resume updated yesterday, she found and applied for 3 jobs yesterday as well.

Been a strange weekend, a very good friend of both my wife and I called and asked us to drive her back to rehab. She had been in a live-in facility for 4.5 months, got out just over a month ago and went to see some friends who we hoped she would just leave alone. They are not bad people, they just don't care about anyone other than themselves. They took my friend to a house party (being 30 years old and at a house party was bad enough!) When she decided to try and have one beer. Well two cases later, vomiting all over herself, the house, and passing out she realized that she has ZERO self control. So she is coming to my house tonight to stay until tomorrow when we take her back to rehab, 3.5 hours away.

What the f*$# is going on around here!! Then my FIL goes and says "everything happens for a reason..". What reason could all this possibly be happening for?! Aaarrggghhh!!!

Knife work for the day - cord wraps are getting done! and soaked!

I planned on finishing them yesterday and never started, I was falling asleep at 4 pm and had to call it quits for working, lol. More plans than energy, lol! I did get a lot done and the signatures on the D2 tantos are NICE, way deep!

She knows I don't tolerate that stuff in my house. She is a very close friend and a good person, but has no self control and is extremely impulsive. I won't ever give up on here, but now I feel like I'm bating my head against the wall! I've had my own battles with hard core street drugs and thankfully never ended up in jail, but I've been close. I know what she's going through.

Daniel, keep up the work! But don't press on when nodding off at the grinder, you have long hair and that won't be pretty!

My father in law looks quite a bit like Chuck Norris and actually has people ask him for autographs all the time! Grenadian Customs recently thought he was Chuck with a fake ID, lol they "let him pass" anyways!

We'll be thinking of your friend hoping for the best. A bandmate of mine at one time went through the same thing... around this time last year we resurrected the band for a while, he had cleaned up and is doing great. It was great to see him cleaned up, he was out of control!

Yeah no passing out at the grinder, I have been worn out lately. Knifemaking is always a lot of work but the main thing is my daughter is up all the time, every 2 hours at night for the last few days. We think she is teething a bit and may also need to eat some food before she sleeps, she is 4 months 10 days now so that is about the time. No worries, she is doing great so that is what is important!

Time for more sanding! only a tiny bit more prep and I'm cutting some cord and rayskin.

Morning. Todays is my wifes birthday, 29! I have to work late today, but I guess some of her girlfriends are comin over. Good, that gets me off the hook! I guess we are going out Friday night, I'm the designated driver, so I'll have a car full of drunk girls giving me a headache.

I have been working on stuff all morning and will be getting in the shop soon! I have a couple of days to wait for my epoxy on the new knives to cure...

I'm either going to work some more on the 12 knife run of Ti Bottle Opener Knives or some other random stuff. I did a steel and overall shop inventory last night and might use a bar of O1 for more mini cleavers.

I have a lot going on, I'm trying to use up some older steel stock I have up so I can buy the supplies for some bigger runs, Friction Folders being one of them. I'm buying much of my stock direct from the manufacturers now, it helps keep my final cost down.
