Takin a break from the shop and watching Zyler play in the back yard.

I'm making a new adjustable rear sight for my pellet pistol, the stock one is junk. Its lightweight molded plastic and self tapping screws in a slot to adjust the elevation. My design is rather crude right now, but its a proof of concept. Maybe I will draw it up and get a quote to have it machined. I think its gonna work, though! Just about done with it, im waiting for Zyler to fall asleep for his nap, if he does at all.

OK that rules! I might have to turn my bb rifle ( I think it is rifled...) into a sawed off now!

Custom machined sight, sweet!

Evening men.Daniel that War project looks awesome!!! 1/4 inch thick blade and 7 1/2 inch long blade I will be all over that!!!!

That sounds great! I think around 1/4" will be great and that would be a cool size! I think I could do the one I drew up (5" blade?) and the big one!

Hey y'all I am getting some grind time finishing up my mom's dagger . Made another kiridashi . finishing the wrench knife today I am burning my F'in fingers off !!!! Last night I woke Jen by sitting in bed with my headlamp on and hand sanding the flats on the wrench knife . The look she gave me was like:confused: She is a saint to put up with me ! hope y'all have a great day.I am going to see if I can pull off a hollow grind on my 4x36 :D

You really are my hero!

God luck with the hollow, I did a kiridashi on my 4x36 wheel that looked sweet!

Got my mock up rear sight done! It sure is nice being able to hold a better sight picture, my groups tightened up even more and are right where I want them. Still need to adjust a touch of windage, but elevation is right.

Widage is adjusted by the rear breech screw that also holds the sight on. It sits in a slot in the sight body. I also replaced the slotted screw with a stainless pan head hex screw.

Elevation is adjusted by a set screw in the sight body, accessed through a hole in the sight blade. Back the screw out to raise the rear sight, bringing shot placement up. The breech screw is also accessed through the sight blade.

The slot in the blade is smaller than the stock, giving a finer alignment window, tightening up groups and misalignmet.

And the proof is on the paper! Group sizes dropped, and group placement is better! 5 shots, off hand, 10 yards iron sights. Fits inside of a penny! This is with cheap crosman pointed pellets, I still haven't run match grade or weight sorted pellets through it yet!

The rats don't stand a chance now!

That looks killer Xander ! You will have to bring that thing over on night and we can hunt the rats in the bamboo.Inside a penny = head shot! I might even forgo my "you kill it you eat it " rule ...... maybe. I did get the BBQ fired up ya know.HAHA.I finished the wrench knife just need to make a sheath for it tomarrow. The hollow grind came out a little strange but I think it will be very cool when done . I am starting to realize some of the coolest grinds might just be mistakes.

Haha, yeah I had one stand up and stare me down after I shot it! It was with my little spring pistol though, the one you have right now. You need to get one of these guns dude! It frikken rocks! After doing the trigger it is a very capable gun, and ive read that the issue I had with the stock rear sight being too tall is kinda hit or miss, some have it some dont.

I've found that peanut butter is an irresistable bait for rats, but its hard for me to get it up in the trees! I did throw an overripe banana on the garage roof though to try and temp them into sitting still. Im off on Sunday if you wanna go shoot. i have about 1000 pellets and can get them cheap from the gun store across the street from my house.

Daniel, can I commission a small skinner from you, a rat skinner?!

-Xander

I am looking for a nice pellet pistol . You will have to let me give yours a try. I tool some pix of the wrench knife, my hollow grind attempt and kiridashi # 3 . I'm making a sheath today so I can take it to work and test it out.Have a good one guys

I own the 1377. Its awesome. I hear that the flat top rounds meant for paper targets are pretty awesome against the varmint they just rip right through them.

I do have a tin of RWS Meisterkugeln (wadcutter target grade) pellets for target shooing, but at almost $20 a tin I don't like shootin rats with them! I save them for matches. I am going to recrown the barrel in hopes of even better accuracy. I conidered the 1377 but since I hunt I wanted the retained energy of the .22 caliber pellets and got the 1322. You likely have the 1377c, which due to unfortunate laws in Canada restrict fps on pellet guns to 500. A simple valve job can get you right up to the limit.

This gun is just too much fun! I'm already trying to source a large block of material for matching grips and fore stock. I also need to make a proper pellet trap, my current back stop is rather noisy.

I just broke my chains from the KMG but I hear my captor calling.... AAARRGGGHHHHH..... :D

WHy would anyone choose to be up this early!!!!!!!!!???????????? cooooooooooooooooooooofffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! I got to work on some knives yesterday . I used the stone Xander gave me to put the final edge on the wrench knife and duuuuuuude that thing is the sharpest knife I own!!Xander that stone is the BOMB!Y'all have a great day!

Haha, kevin, did you even go to sleep?!

Just got back from the flea market, nothing good really. I considered a small drill press, but it was only 1/4hp and went down to about 700rpm. It was $20, but had too much play in the spindle. It could of been usefull, but it really would have been just a waste of my limited bench space.

More rat hunting last night, but ended up not getting a single shot off! Sometime around 2300 my neighbor came home and I heard him shut his car door and immediately start cursing, followed by some loud pounding. Brandi woke up and came and got me, concerned about what's going on. I go out front and my neighbor is just stupid drunk and locked his keys in his truck! He was trying to get back in because a woman friend called him and he was trying to get to her place. After 20 minutes of him playing with a coat hanger I finally convinced him to go to bed and deal with it in the morning. This morning he ended up smashing his window! I told him its cheaper than a DUI! He hung his head and thanked me for talking some sense ino him! Can't say I've never been there, but its still kinda funny!

Good stuff on that stone Kevin! Daniel, I have a couple lapped that I'm still testing and I will send one to you soon. Once I get one worked out I will write up some notes for it and send it out. What size are you comfortable using? Most of them are on the small side, but with short strokes works very well, but I don't know about super steels. I would venture to guess anything over about 60hRc might see diminishing returns, dishing the stone more than sharpening the knife.

I hear you! Jade had me up, her and the kitties were having a party this morning. Or at least that's what I think I heard...

Nice to hear on the stone working good, cool stuff.

Yeah good call on that press, loose spindles are no good. I have one like that size wise (but it's pretty solid) for kydex. $45 new (with coupons) if I remember, it was from HF

Funny story there on the neighbor! You can hear my neighbors 1/4 mile away so even here you get some funny stuff.

BTW that sight is killer!

Whatever stone is cool with me, I really appreciate the offer! Bigger is better but I can work with a lot. For the W2 Dashis I went through about 20 sheets of paper all cut up into 4x4 or so squares. I haven't even stropped them and they are very sharp.

I am just worn out here, not sleeping well and working a ton. I have tons of big bills and have been working hard towards lots of knives and paying those bills!

I just posted pics of some kiridashis, I have quite a few ready. I think I have 5 in 5160/Coyote Brown and a couple random ones in W2 with a subtle but well defined hamon. I polished for two days, lol for 3 dashis.

Evolved design on top.... poon tip on bottom but that's just the blade part edited on that one.

These will likely have either a removable cord wrap or possible CNC routed removable scales. This is important for ease of sanitizing... important in the military or anytime you need to really clean the knife.

Stainless/Non Glare Finish

Dude, top one is just awesome! I'm not a huge fan of 'poon tips, but stretch it out to a full length raised clip and I'm in love! What plans for the grind on the top one? For some reason I can see a Loveless doublt hollow on that, but I know that's not your style. Check out Christoff's (Koyote blades I think, he has a forum here) tribute blade he did in blued steel and walnut. Its in the WWII style paratrooper type shape and really has some cool features that I see in your design as well. It may be a bit of inspiration for you with these. If I didnt just place an order for another custom riggng knife I would be saving for one of these!

Let me see if I can dig up a pic of the knife I'm talking bout, or maybe just a link.

I know that Loveless that you speak of somewhat well, that really makes my day that it reminds you of that! I can just see that Loveless Fighter grind on it and that would look incredible! I do think I will do some double grinds of this one. (double sided and double swedge/dagger ground) The majority will likely be a high saber or flat grind.

It is his evolved fighter design that I bet you speak of, not the early one. I have his book where he discusses the grind, essential reading in my opinion. I had not thought of his design when designing this but now that I think it does look a bit alike in the blade shape.

No worries on saving up, it will be a little while on these. My folders will still be first. Plus you have been a great friend and loyal customer, guys like you get dibs and an interest free payment plan, lol!

Thanks!

Dude, check out this knife by Christoff Harper, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/801989-a-tribute-some-history-and-a-new-combat-model?highlight=author+tribute

I think this is real similar to what your going for, but of course yours will be in the diffinitive DFK style! There's something about your knives that just sets them apart, if I ever saw one unmarked I'm sure I could tell right away who made it! Not to mention I have seen almost every single knife you have made anyways!

I appreciate the kind words bro! You rock and your knives do too!

-Xander

Oh yeah, go Giants I guess. I'm not a baseball fan, or anysport with a ball, but Brandi has been watching since the start of the pennant race. Woo. Hoo. I suppose.

The similarities are uncanny! That is a great looking knife. I agree though, it is a classic style and mine will stand out as my own style. Thanks!

Go Giants... ummm is that football of baseball? Oh wait you said pennant, I'm pretty sure that is horse racing, go Giant!

Lol I didn't even know but it is October isn't it. I have figured out how to watch one football game per week through the net so that is all that I see as far as sports go. Lol one day they say we will get TV in Colorado! I did watch the whole last season of the Walking Dead in about a week thanks to netflix, lol.

Thanks again on the knife, I am excited about the design.
