Hey guys! Big, hang in there man! Had a good weekend, my mom and dad are watching my niece and nephew for a few days, so I had them over last night to play with my son and have pizza for dinner. Man that was tiring! My son will be 3 in Sept, my nephew 5 in Sept, and my niece is 7. Lots of screaming, running, playing.
I also picked up my 1917 from the gunsmith yesterday, he does some nice work! He retired 26 years ago now, but is a sharp as he ever was, just a little slower moving now. I guess the money I saved having him do the work I made up for in the hours spent just talking with him. 3.5 hours just talking guns before I even paid him! He took me down to his basement where he has a whole different shop setup. His safe is an old bank safe from turn of the century! A very extensive reloading room, the coolest little Emco Unimat3 lathe I have ever seen! The entire thing was maybe 15" long.
Well now that I got my gun back I can really get going on that project, mainly the stock. It is now ready to have the fit fine tuned and dialed in, because I now have the sight line set with scope and rings.
The scope is a beater BSA 6-24x40 I keep around for different projects like these so I can save up to get the glass I really want to use. This gun will eventually be getting 4-12x40 redfield with a duplex reticle.
