Man, sounds like its wicked cold there! I was hurtin on my ride to work today, it was 45*! I think Kevin is right, its been maybe 10 years since it technically snowed, but it didn't even stick to the ground! A couple years ago th snow level got down to about 1000 feet, but most of Stockton is about 10' above sea level, and my parents house is actually below sea level!

Have a good one, and thank you to all our Veterans today!

Howdy ho neighbours! I am getting close to heat treat for this little 1084 knife I have been working on.It is getting chilly (for California) I think it got into the high 30's last night . My dog (Bella) woke me up and demanded a blanket haha. She is spoilded to the bone! I must say I would much rather it be cold than hot !! Bella and Rilley would very much disagree.Pittbulls hate the cold!!!Rilley is a bit tougher and younger she will just tough out a cold night (inside the house anyway.haha.Y'all have a good day . I will leave you with the latest pic of my little 1084 knife.

Almost afternoon here.

Just got to work, still a bit of a chill in the air. Going to be in the high 50's today. I've had enough cold for the year already. I'm going to try and not drive my Tahoe to work anymore, I haven't in over 6 months now! I can't go car free like FBC because of the kid and all, but I try to as much as possible! My gas budget is down to about $20 a week for my truck and mileage is now about 3K/yr!

I need to start working on some steel soon. I've got some new ideas.

Hope all are well!

sissy!:D Just kidding. You will get used to it. It is because it went from 80 to 50 in two days.

Is that just starting it:D
Daniel, Are you still getting snowed on?That reminds me of a vid you did and you skied or snowboarded to your shop. That is awesome!!!! I am still hoping for a how to vid on the Japanese cord wrap. I will give ya a dollar:D
Big, I hope you are doing well!
Have a good night.

FBC that is looking great! Nice easy to draw handle too, I like it. Good self defense or edc design. Take the edge to dime thick before heat treat as a general rule.

Xander, nice on riding the bike! I only use my 4runner about once a week. If I get my 1962 Ford Unibody fixed up I can make up for the gas savings with the 351C. :D

I used to ride my bike to work when I was a chef and lived near town. My roommate rode a lot more than me and went through a gear set every year or more! He got snow tires for his bike one winter even, no joke.

I just wear regular clothes when I biked which is odd here, lmao everyone else is sponsored! :D

Bicycling is huge here.... Durango is probably 20k people and has 5 or 10 bike shops.

Cold... man it is cold here! I don't think we have seen 40F in 5 days or so, it was nice before that. The first inch of ground is already frozen. The snow from a few days back has not melted a bit at my place but across the canyon it has, I need some sunlight! No direct light here in a few days, the sun is behind the mountain until spring. My kiln in the outdoor shop shut off the other day automatically because it wasn't ramping fast enough!

Our family from out of the country left on Sunday, it was a lot of fun and a lot got done.

I had a full day in the shop yesterday and got a lot of grinding done, the A2 batch is close! My wife said they looked the best of any scales I have done when I brought them in.

I just found my ipod nano! YES! it has been missing for nearly a year now, lol it was in my couch

I love that thing, shop tunes on the Hi-Fi! I download to max quality so it only holds a few cds but man it sounds killer. I usually listen to itunes but I have problems picking up a signal down the hill in the shop.

By the way I got in my Topping TP22 amp and Dayton B652 speakers a while back... my 120$ high fidelity audiophile quality sound system. It sounds so killer it is just nuts and I have already heard things in tracks I never noticed... I can hear background talking even some of my older music. On Zeppelin stuff you can hear the drumsticks being set on the snare between licks! I am a Zeppelin fanatic and I had never noticed. There is not a ton of bass but the imaging is insane, I listened to Coltrane's Blue Train the other day and it was like the real band was there.

Its great when you hear new and subtle nuances from songs you've heard over and over. I'm all about imaging and quality when it comes to music, so much more critical than volume, although you still need a very robust amp to bring it all out. Stay warm bro.

Yes it is, I really enjoy my music. I agree on the imaging and quality, I could have bought something a lot louder but have never been too into that. The amp will put out 15 watts per channel at essentially no distortion. No tone control, just on off and volume, my kind of style.

I'm using a 100 watt per channel amp on my Yamaha NS-10's (25 watt speakers?) and it does sound very clean because of the headroom. I'm using a Pioneer amp so it colors the sound but I like the Pioneer sound. I bought them from a music producer back when I was making a lot of my own music for monitors and he was using an amp that had crazy wattage to push them, I think it was a Crown 4000 watt amp!

Having a decent pair of speakers was a must for me.

After my $16 cyberacoustics speakers died, I bought a set of M-Audio AV40s, the difference is night and day.

Nice! I hear they make great gear.

I'm so happy with these Dayton speakers, I still can't believe they cost $35. I had to replace my old clock radio, it was just about toast.

I'm still rockin my Dual 525 bookshelf speakers. My Technics SL-BD20-D turn table, 1968 Pioneer SX1500TD amp, and home made speaker wires are holding up strong. I just played a collectors limited edition, two disc set of Ray Charles pressed in 1968, by ABC records. Still one of my favorites!

Afternoon men.Woke up to 2 inches of fresh snow this morning.I guess it is winter here for the next 6 months.

Hey BigCountry! I hear you on Winter! I hope it is a mild one.

That sounds killer! Ray Charles too, nice! I have some older recordings by him on viny too, cool stuff. My Dad saw him a bunch during the 1950's and said he was the best.

Morning guys!

You too, Daniel!

I did some shootin last night on the regulation targets for the airgun matches I'm doing. I shot the 5 meter, one hand only pistol match last night. This class allows any sighting device (including optical magnifiers, i.e. scopes) but I prefer good ol' iron sights. I used my gun with the "custom" rear sight and posted a 114 out of 120 with 1X. Pretty darn proud of that score! I did pull my last two shots because I was getting cold, it was 40*F when I looked at the thermometer lol! I seem to shoot much better at night due to the lighting in my shop, gives me a better sight picture.

Here's my target, check out the distance between the rings, its about the same size as the pellet holes! Difficult targets for sure!

There are two more classes I can enter, a regular pistol match (1 or 2 hand, off hand, any sight, 4 bull) and the stock pistol class which is 1 or 2 hand, off hand, iron sights, 4 bulls. They are pretty strict about the stock class, not like firearm comps which allow internal mods to an extent. This is bone stock all the way to the trigger! Good thing my MK I has an adjustable trigger from the factory!

Wow cool, nice shooting!

Cool you are doing some competitive shooting, looks like you are good. I used to do a lot growing up and for a while there went through a hundred rounds of 22 ammo a day. (I worked near an outdoor range rifle/archery/shotgun as a kid for a few summers)

I am enjoying my BB gun now and still need a good rifle. I at least need to sight in my BB gun but I am shooting stuff pretty far away and hitting it, it amazes me how powerful it is. I can hit small twigs at about 50 yards, lol.

I'm trying to figure out what my neighbors are shooting but whatever it is it is really big and automatic, it sounds like Baghdad around here on the weekends! lol I think they have a dozen full autos by the sound of it, some are pretty serious rate of fire wise and velocity wise depending on what they are shooting....

Good shooting Xander!Bring your pistol and some targets (I'm guessing you can print the targets) when you come over tomarrow.
Daniel,46 deg. sounds like beautiful crisp clean mountian air to me. I really need a camping trip!!!!
Have a good one y'all!!!

Thanx guys! I used to shoot competitively for several years in PPC events. Got pretty good as a junior then moved up to open class at age 12, and did well there too.

This has been 180* different! I found some good articles on mechanics of 10meter olympic style pistol shooting, took pictures of my stance to compare, isolated and focused on every little detail. Then I added the gun to the equation! Think of it like holding a beer mug full to the top with no foam out at arms length, and not spill a drop. It sure is fun! I did have to train myself to shoot with both eyes open though, still working on that so it becomes second nature.

So far this score is holding up, but we'll see at the end of the month! Maybe I'll get Kevin to try it out...

-Xander

Daniel, I would definitely make friends with those neighbors!:D
Xander, you know I will try anything:D You can come over bright and early, you know about noon or one.haha
Big, hope that back of yours is doing ok.
y'all have a good night .
