Evening gang.

Well when I got to work today I had a big let-down...Christmas music has started! I get 40+ hours a week worth of this music for the next 6 weeks! Ugh, "Its a holly jolly.." S.T.F.U! I really don't enjoy it much at all and hearing the same songs over and over doesn't make it any better.

I started a new Kamisori razor yesterday, got it pofiled out. Gonna flat grind the short grind tomorrow I think, then hollow grind it. I will thin the handle as well. I have learned a TON about the design of these things, having a traditional one on loan to inspect has been the biggest help, hopefully I can put out a better razor this time around.

I also have plans to start a rigging knife for myself. Don't have a pattern drawn up yet, but I have a design I want to try out.

I'm due for a raise at work, too! Maybe once I get some financial monkies off my back I can finally upgrade my grinders. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Big storm moved in today, rain for the next few days. I guess winter is here. Oh well, it can't be summer all year round!

"holly jolly.... stfu" I like it, lmao!! :D

That is rough! lol at least it isn't new country! (sorry country fans, I can dig the old stuff though)

Cool stuff on the raise (coming soon I hope!) and the knives!

I hope the weather is nice, it warmed up a bit here today and was awesome. I just came in from cooling some knives between temper cycles and it was chilly outside!

Its a FM station that is a "work music" station. So its a mix of all kinds of crap, including rythu m and twang modern country. Some good stuff, like Michael Jackson, BeeGees and such.

I hope the raise comes soon! I sure could use it.

That sounds like an excellent turnout! Great job! That is great to hear, I look forward to pics.

I bet, I had a mall kiosk and had to endure a mix (literally both at once all the time) of Christmas music and the music at Hot Topic at high volume for months on end. You'd think the Hot Topic stuff would at least be OK but I think they played the same 20 songs in order the entire time. lmao!!! 77 hours a week for months on end with no days off, the Mall was tougher than it sounds! I did see some funny stuff there though... man I like knifemaking a lot better! :D :D :D

In high school I worked in a grocery store where they had Muzak, I remember just cracking up on Money by Pink Floyd in Muzak and even better Here Comes the Sun King... Beatles. I will never forget how funny it was.

We're rooting for you on the raise!

I worked a few months at Barnes & Noble in their music department, which was adjacent to the mall entrance of the store! I know exactly what you mean. Its like you go to a friends apartment on a Friday night, you hear everyones music all mixed together. Its like that, but mixed with crap.

Morning y'all!

Exactly!

I'm going between sheaths, the kiln and looking stuff up so far today... my sheaths are almost done and I am on temper #3 with some 52100. I usually temper twice for 2+ hours but decided my original temp of 415 was too low for 52100, it can easily be 67 out of quench!

Morning men.

Well I got a pattern drawn up yesterday that I like for a rigging knife. I just hope it fits the steel I have! Its a mix of features I like from various knives, but what knife design isn't?!

I also have another kamisori profiled out, but didn't get a chance to grind the bevels yesterday. My boy is sick with a cold, and his mother decided to leave him with me most all day and go shopping. Oh well, its nice when he actually wants to sit still in my lap and watch movies. I just hope I don't get sick from him sneezing all over me all day!

Here is the Kamisori I am working on right now...

Hope all are having a good on and making room for turkey dinner this week!

Xander, both of those look good . If the rigger doesn't fit the steel you have you can have some of mine. what grind are you going for on the rigger?
Daniel,That mini cleaver is killer I have been using it alot . It is alot more versitile than it looks !
have a good night y'all

Thanx Kev. You saw the kamisori the other day at your place, I havent done anything to it since. The rigger might get a zero ground convex (sabre grind?), or a chisel. Im not sure yet, I'm still a ways from putting pattern to steel. I may actually order a bar of 154cm to play with.

I need to get over there and check out that mini cleaver! See if we can bisect any small defenseless shrubbery!

Rocking designs! Both really look great to me. I don't know a lot about razor design but the rigger looks perfect. I wonder if you could lap a stone for the back of the kamisori? Cool stuff there!

I hope your son is doing better, this time of the year is rough for colds it seems.

Nice on the Mini Cleaver! I think I should have called it a tanto or something because it isn't mini or really a cleaver, lol. My very first knife was much like that design and it gets a ton of use.

I had to look it up... my first knife http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/819803-First-official-finished-knife!

A shrubbery! Whack some stuff with the Mini Cleaver!

Oh man, that is sweet! I'm diggin that shape! Its my favorite size as well. I really love knives in the 2-4 inch blade range.

Oh don't worry, even my rigger is legal here! No maximum length limit on fixed blade knives in Cali! But I cannot conceal a fixed blade knife of any length. I'm wearin my rigger today actually! It resides in my top two rotation of EDK's!

I really like the handle on that one, you seem to have refined your handle shaping quite well recently. Its a subtle change, but I noticed it right away once you got it dialed in! Yours were never bad or blocky before, they're just better now.

I hear you, I'd carry a machete in a belt sheath! lol

These are scribed from the same template as the earlier Legal EDC run, they are a but different though. .190" or so 52100 and no "knocker" pommel. I thought it would be cool to do a more traditional handle to mix things up and I like it.

Thanks on the handles, I feel I am slowly getting better on each one. One thing I do now is use a 1" wide belt and that really helps. I am also doing a lot of hand finishing, these were later (today after the photo) brought to 1000 grit and are even better. The black paper micarta one really looks cool at 1000, satiny black and the black g10/blue G10 layered really pops as well.

I never get any requests for black paper micarta and it is tough as hell to work but I keep using it because it looks killer and is paper light. :D
