Woot! Me too!

I've had off since Tuesday night- the Food Mine owners went to Boca for a long weekend and didn't need me. So I've been immersing myself in "Friction Folder Theory". So far I've absorbed a few salient things- the stop pin "hole" and ricasso should be 180 degrees opposite the pivot hole before fitting the ricasso to the closed position. Obviously back spacer height is equal to blade thickness plus washers. It also seems a frikkie with metal liners is one step from a liner lock. Which is one step from a framelock...

That is sad to hear.

RIP Chi Cheng

Rough week for people...

Bako good stuff on the friction folder theory! I have spent my evenings for months working on that stuff...
Square, flat, parallel, round... all key!

By the way, with all this hand made/file work type of stuff I don't say do it because it will make you tough or you will pay your dues... whatever! It is because you can get it right easier and probably faster. Whatever works though!

Make sure you have some good clamps for drilling, reaming your holes is not a bad idea. I'd consider using the same pivot/standoffs for the whole knife to keep it simple.

Inspiration!

That's what I keep hearing.

I'm ordering frikkie fixin's this week. Is it possible that 3/16" Ti chainring bolts don't exist? And will I have to make my own bushing if I use a giganto MTB chainring bolt as a pivot?

Shoot, days off are when I work my second job, I think it was Rolf who called it something like "house biotch."

Believe me, when I saw that I have next Friday and Saturday off I immediately started calling around the family for a baby sitter to watch Zyler Friday night, lol! I rarely get two days off together, let alone two weekend days! Brandi and I are trying to figure out what city to go to. San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Lake Tahoe, etc. We can choose between surfing, skiing, sailing and sun bathing all within a couple hours drive from here.

Damn I love California!

3/16" Chainrings - here you go! http://usaknifemaker.com/folding-knife-parts-c-30.html

You may have to make your own bushings for the huge ones... probably not for 3/16" but I haven't seen any offhand. If everything is square and in tolerance you should be fine with just washers.
