Daniel- Hidden stop pin? Is this on your folder or your friction folder?

That concept might be used on my second folder, it is a secret until then! :D

My second folder is almost ready as far as CAD goes. I should start my first design very soon by the way!

Morning y'all. I have been playing around with the idea of using a backspacer as a stop pin.As almost evrything else in knives,I am sure it has been done before.I think it would add strength and at the same time simplify the design. Have a good one!BBQ does sound gooooooooooooood!

Kev- I kid you not. I was recently just thinking about that!! Try it!

Mornin guys!

Lots of things going on at Baby Bear Forge today. (Btw, what do you think of that name? That's Zylers nick name). I got that marlin spike in the second temper cycle right now, the pricker handle just got its final coat of oil, I started restoring a couple of vintage shaving brushes for myself, one is done and just needs new hair, the other is about halfway done.

Second temper cycle should be just about done, I will then start on the clean up and polishing of the tip. I did 475*F for 1 hour at temp, twice. This should give a strong and durable tool. It came out of HT nice and straight too, always a good feeling!

Looking good! I like the name too.

On a quick break here, I'm doing work and making BBQ. I have a little chunk of TX mesquite from a tree outside of my parents house on (in) the grill... it is smoking away with ribs and "country style ribs" on the rack.

Back to knife ideas. I was talking about designing an adjustable detent "screw" but Mick Strider already tried it and said it was a royal pain.

Ribs with ribs on them. :D

Ribs!

..Been working on keychain tools all day, 20 should be done but my compressor just decided it isn't working any more today. I hope it miraculously starts back up. This week I have had at least one major thing break every day.

The BBQ is going to be good! The ribs on top are really fatty and are keeping the bottom ones basted nicely. :D

Speaking of the backpacker, I had a minor victory this weekend.. I've been wearing mine as a necker as a really handy way to have it available to open our boxes as we unpack this move. My wife refused to wear hers, something about not wanting to be a knife dork or something like that... Anyway, mid-way through Saturday morning she looks over at me and asks if she can borrow mine to open a box. Without saying a word I pull hers out of my pocket and hand it to her. She wore and used it the rest of the weekend :D

That makes my day hearing that! Very cool

I think the small fixed blade will make a come back. I love the folder overall for edc but I have been dropping my Nealy Aikuchi in my back pocket lately. Soon, it will be a Fairly tanto.

I agree, small and lightweight fixed blades are where it's at. Of course all good knives rock. :D

I like Titanium for EDC and steel if a lot of heavy duty cutting is done. I'm very much a minimalist when it comes to what I will carry.

Bud Nealy - he is one of my favorite knife designers. His take on the classic Pesh Kabz is a huge influence on my work as well as his general streamlined style.

I think Rolf is right, I carry a fixed everyday, I have for years.

You really can't beat one, I bet everyone borrows your knives!

I have refined my dive knife design and it has changed a bunch... the handle is more ergonomic but still usable in reverse grip. I'm going for a streamlined dive knife, I don't like bulky dive knives. No ski pole grips! :D

I want a dive knife that is great for cutting line and cleaning fish, will cut line from a fouled prop with ease and is not in the way. Pry tip and knocker pommel. Carbidized Titanium will excel at those tasks.
