Right now I'm considering turning on the chop saw and starting a kwaiken profile for a likely sign-up run. :D I need one more cup of coffee.

That reminds me... Desire is probably my favorite Bob Dylan album. Blood on The Tracks and his first one are up there. :D

Rise and Grind!

Almost done with my 24 oz coffee. It's 9:03am. This does not bode well.

Was in the shop working on a few older knives last night. Fixing old plunges and whatnot. funtimes!

D you got any sketches of what you're thinking of doing?

Sounds nice, good to be in the shop!

This is even better than a sketch... :D

I'm most likely going with .140-.150" CPM 3V, these will have a handle of about 4" and a roughly 3.2" blade. Medium size, great for daily carry.

morning yall, just had my toast with pb and some tea. I can tell its going to be a long hump day.

Looking good, I would end up using it in the lab to cut anything and everything and then at the range as well.

Sup fellas.

I'm stoked, glue up came out good on that chef knife I'm reworking!

Did a bit of handle shaping today and I forgot how much of a bitch using the slack belt is and keeping everything nice and symmetrical. (Hint: start with your weak hand, it's easier to match that with your strong side than the other way around).

Here's a detail shot...

Wow Xander that is seriously impressive! Very, very nice work!

I hear you on the slack belt, they are tricky. That fit up is something else.

Thanks dude! I was a little concerned about it and was thinking if I should go with liners to kind of take up some slack but managed to get a good fit and just went for it! I'm stoked it came out good!

Throwing a couple coats of BLO on the wood before work, will finish final sanding and detail shaping later. Hopefully the BLO will keep the black sanding dust out of the wood pores for the most part. One thing I hate about these blonde woods, they catch and show all dirt until they have finish on them.

Off to work now.

Make it great!

I have this finished for a few weeks. Sharpening stones will arrive tomorrow. Im super excited :D Cant wait to sharpen something.

Dang, Xander that is some top notch fitting! Looks great so far. I really want to see a finished pic.
Daniel, I would say that my favorite Bob Dylan LP is Nashville Skyline....but I like every album.
Howdy to the rest of y'all.

I like his Christmas album.... o_0 :D

Kevin, this knife is the wife's, so it'll be here if you ever want to check it out.

Oh man I forgot Nashville Skyline, it is probably actually my favorite... so hard to say. Some of the guitar on that one is just awesome... had me playing in alternate tunings for a long time there.

Goodgawd!
Thank you, Daniel.
I have one gripe but you know what it is.
Not everyone likes Red. :D
Thanks for the pic, man!

Thanks! You know... I bet they make red skateboard grip tape! Now that would be cool.

Holy GUACAMOLE! Daniel, I think I just fell in love with a knife!:love_heart:

Thanks FBC! :D How's it been going dude!

Epic mail day today, I want to do some grinding after that if I get done early enough. :D

Morning guys!

Daniel, you ever used a steel chain ring bolt as a pivot for a Ti frikky? I'm thinking of trying it. I have a few laying around I'm not using.

Making it great, everyday!

Good morning vatos. X, how about Ti chainring bolts? I thought about doing that but I figured that the tolerances would be too sloppy. I guess you could true it up on a lathe. hmmm
Have a good one y'all.

Tolerances aren't all that important for a frikky. I'm just thinking of using up some scraps I have laying around, don't really want to spend on some ti chain ring bolts for scraps.

Did a little finish sanding and am about to put a couple more coats of BLO on the chef knife. Scotch brite on the blade too. Then I will sharpen it up and give it back to the wife. She'll be happy about that.

That turned out really nice, cool to see something other than black on one of those also! Nice work!

You will probably be fine using the chainrings, I buy mine from USAKM... but I bet the bike ones will be good. Mic it first to see if it tapers...

I have some chainrings I plan on using as pivots, I just need to get the tooling and washers first. The washers are hard to find but for a one off pretty easy to make.
